Bryan, there hasn't been anything announced yet. But I'm sure it will be since it's got huge stars and the show is selling out. shuffle along cast cd

I hope they do one...I don't want the only way to hear Billy Porter singing Lowdown Blues again is to go to the show. Which I guess I wouldn't mind but my wallet would.

With those lush orchestrations, it would be a crime for them not to make a cast recording. I need a professional recording of Broadway Blues!

Hell I would kill for a non-professional recording (if you catch my drift).

I know there still has yet to be any official word on this but is there any rumors swirling? It seems like they'd want to be getting things underway since they only have Audra for a little more than a month. Like others have already stated it seems like a prime opportunity with a hit show, big names, and a venerated score in need of an updated recording.

I was wondering if anyone had any insight into the production teams process of fashioning the score as I know it isn't made up entirely of material from Shuffle Along, so does anyone know if there's a listing of where some of the other numbers were pulled from? I know Blake & Sissle had The Chocolate Dandies together and each worked on projects seperate from one another so I'm assuming they were pulled from those or used trunk songs. The Tony performance (Broadway Blues isn't listed as an original Shuffle Along number incidentally) has really stuck with me so I hope a recording is released!!!

well Audra will still be able to sing after she leaves the show. She doesn't live so far away she couldn't record the album while pregnant (at least I've never heard anything about singing while pregnant being dangerous...can it be?)

It's not dangerous but some women's voices have been known to temporarily change in the third trimester. As the baby grows, vocal chords can become swollen and lung capacity decreases.

shuffle along cast cd

On Twitter not too long ago, there was apparently a "Songs from Shuffle Along" CD that was distributed to Tony voters. I couldn't tell if it included songs from the show recorded by the 2016 cast (probably demos to prep for the new arrangements), excerpts from the "Sissle & Blake Sing Shuffle Along" album that was recently released, or what. Either way, hope we get a recording soon. I've waited to hear those songs and their arrangements with this cast since I saw the first preview. I actually enjoyed this a tad bit more than Hamilton. Was curious if it could be Nonesuch since that's Audra's label or PS Classics since they've produced new recordings of more classic or vintage material and especially since dialogue is interweaved throughout the songs, I would think this could be a 2-disc album, but who knows. I just hope a label picks this up and records this for a well-deserved preservation.
