Why wasn’t Rebecca Luker nominated for her Maria in The Sound of Music?

joevitus said: "The scene in the clip Brody sharedis so atrociously staged. I think it's actually rather difficult to stage The Sound of Music effectively, but the nuns bowing to each other is just...bizarre. As is trying to shove the movie moment into the middle of the stage version, where it doesn't work. Kinda miss the "Alpine music" that generally greets Maria's intrance before the intro verse, but that's the least of the problems here."I always got the vibe that the idea that the show li...

Next to Normal Broadway Transfer Fall 2026

Jun 16, 2026 — 9:54:04 AM

At the height of Meryl in every movie musical, I used to say I wanted a Next to Normal film with a Nicole Kidman/Kate Winslet type with the singing dubbed by Pink. Cast all of the roles that way with famous vocalists dubbing respected actors. Make the dubbing a marketing ploy like Les Mis did with the live singing. I'd prefer to get to experience the Cassie Levy production live, but I can't say I'm not intrigued.

Why did Bernadette Peters win the Tony for Annie Get Your Gun?

Musicaldudepeter said: "Have we ever got the information on this Tony snub for Into the Woods for Bernadette? Why wasn't she nominated?"I always thought the reason she missed out for Into the Woods was because she opened the show but had left fairly early into the run for a film commitment. Someone with more knowledge than me can probably confirm that

We Need Judith Light Back On Stage

She's aged out of it by now probably, but I've always wanted to see her take on The Lion in Winter. She's always given me the kind of refined earthiness Hepburn had

It is a very small show and will get swallowed up in most of the standard road theatres, which could hurt its reputation. I just picture this in the Straz Theatre in Tampa, for example, and don't see it working. I wonder whether they would be betteroff targeting cities with theatres that do ...

Lead Actress in a Musical 2026

Seems like such a huge miss to 1) capture each of these actors' incredible take on the material and 2) give listeners who didn't see the show a sense oft...
