what are some other sung through musicals out there... and i mean those that are pretty much all singing to very very minimal speaking dialogue... i know some are:
Miss Saigon
Les Miserables
Phantom (although it has like one scene where it's just talking)
Martin Guerre
And i haven't seen them in a while... but isn't Caroline, Or Change and Jane Eyre sung through?

Posted: 1/9/07 at 4:44pmThere are a number of them...especially those ALW shows like JCS and Evita. I think Joseph is as well.

Dreamgirls is not sung through, or even mostly sung. There is a lot of dialogue in it.

Actually, that's my one quibble about Dreamgirls. It seems like Henry Krieger was trying to make up his mind whether or not to make Dreamgirls a sung through musical or not. It's weird. Was he trying to experiment. Because the musical inconsistency is the one flaw of Dreamgirls.
And there's a little dialogue in Aspects of Love. But not a lot.

Are you being sarcastic? Because those particular musicals have a name. Yeah, they're called operas.

In one of its incarnations, CARRIE was sung through.
TEN COMMANDMENTS is another, although I'm not sure that works in its favour or not.

Posted: 1/9/07 at 7:42pmNo, Jane Eyre has plenty of dialogue. As for C,oC, I have no clue.

Posted: 1/9/07 at 7:58pmSweeney Todd is considered sung-through even with it's couple scenes of dialogue, as is Phantom. The Woman in White as well.

Posted: 1/9/07 at 8:00pmCaroline, Or Change, although, with a few snippets of spoken dialogue is considered a sung-through musical by its creators, with its 53 songs.
