Are movies "hitting" screens or "showing" on them?
Yes, I'm nitpicking.

I think 'bklyn' would do well on MTV.

um i think your on the wrong thread.
I would love to see Little Women the movie. But...do you really think it'd work? There are some shows where you take away the set and the stage and the magic sorta goes away. Like...could you ever see les mis the movie? that would be horrible! because it's so great as a musical.

That would make like 32 cents.

I'd give them an American cheese single for it. And not Kraft, either. Store-brand.
how about Follies (directed by Scorsese or Minghella)

As long as they film Follies and not make a movie version of Ted Chapin's making-of book, as the rumor went several months ago.
For some reason, the word splat, not hit, comes to mind when thinking about some of the choices mentioned.

I would like to see a stage version of The Rose, with Idina as the title character.
Bedazzled seems sort of inevitable to me. I can't believe nobody's done it. I'm sure Faust is in the public domain :P

Bedazzled could really be a hoot in the right hands. If it were to happen, it should remain set in the 60s.
I would agree except that the remake had some terrifically topical moments that would feel much fresher. The only reason I could honestly see in setting it in the 60's is for the sake of parody and nostalgia, two things I'm a bit sick of in the musical. Otherwise why set it in the 60's except for the fact that the original movie is superior? You're not going to see the original movie, you're seeing a musical adaptation. Do your own thing.
I'm praying I live to see a remake of POTO to see it done right....
But in the meantime, if Tim Burton and Sondheim fare well with Sweeney, I'd LOVE to see them take on Into the Woods...Helena as the witch anyone?
Err how about someone who can sing? I say Vanessa Williams again.
I just don't think it's a filmable property though. The songs are so talky...

I think "City of Angels" would do well as a movie.
Idina in the rose would enable me to die happy
What about Pippin and Wicked?
I would like to see something new with Ben Vereen in it. There are so many singers I would love to have on DVD. Pippen seems to have a broad cast of characters.
Id love there to be a remake of Millie with music from the musical although i doubt it will ever happen.
I'd like to see Sunday in the Park with George, they can use that rotoscoping for 'It's Hot Up Here' so the painting is actually singing the song. But, as I've said before on threads like this, I wish TV would make more musicals as well. There are some that are risky to do for the big screen, I'm trying to be realistic about this. I, for one, would love to see all musicals on the big screen, but unfortunately, 'mainstream' America (teenage boys, lets face it, that's who they make most movies for) isn't going to go for a lot of the musicals. So TV should pick up the slack. The recent musicals done for TV have done very well in the ratings, so let's see some more. And as I've also said before, HBO or Showtime should give it a try. And now that MTV is airing Legally Blonde, maybe Logo, MTV's sister channel, could do productions of Falsettos or Zanna Don't.
