Where's WannaBe?
It's at least nice to see the show got to Broadway. I can only imagine how emotional "Nine People's Favorite Things" is going to be during the closing performance. If Amy Morton's last performance in AUGUST: OC weren't that day, I'd make the trip to see [TOS] the day it closes. Oh well, I'm sure lots of people will give a detailed report.
I concur with the sentiments regarding it's actual noble effort to get to Broadway. It definitely wasn't easy, and yet, they managed to catch the eyes of people who actually believed in the little show. Though it is closing, it isn't necessarily a moment to mourn, but to celebrate. Little shows can have A life on Broadway despite the longevity....

I'm sad to see this show closing. Hopefully they will continue with the Title of Show Show on youtube. I have to know who shot Mindy!
Slightly OT: Does anyone know if they are selling the window card at the theatre? Last time I was there in August they weren't.
I don't know if they're selling the window card at the theatre, but you can find it online.
here's the website
Sad but inevitable. I won't go to 10/12, but I'll see it once more before it closes.

I wish I could see it before it closes, but sadly I don't go up to NY again until November, but I did see it 9 days ago
If I hadn't woken up from such a horrible dream just now I would have been so upset and mad at broadway people. It was so hard to go through Rent closing and really really really tough to get through the Spelling Bee closing. I know that sounds silly but like the entire day I was hoping my grandma would suprise me by calling and saying that I would take a train to NY to see it on closing night.
So sad to hear it's closing. I'm just greatful to have seen it on my last trip. And I must say, I LOVED every minute of it. joe
They made it to Broadway! How is that not awesome? They've lived the story from beginning to end and it's been wonderful watching dreams come true in real time. Is it sad? Sure. But it's majorly happy too.
I think it would be totally {tos}ome, if Title of Show hosted the Tonys this year! How fun would that be!
I cannot believe this!!!
well...i kinda can, because their ticket sales werent exactly great....but still
at least they made it to broadway, which was their dream anyway
its better to run on bway and live your dreams for a little while then never run at all....
im just upset i wont get to see it

I think this show would be perfect for a Star Trek like fan outpouring of support. For those who don't remember, Star Trek was cancelled, but ended staying on another television season because the fans demanded it.
Maybe a small protest down at the theater.
Unless that small protest has a couple million dollars with them, it's not going to keep the show running.
"I don't think this show is closing because it didn't live up to the expectations of the audience and thats an absolutely asinine insinuation to make."
My apologies, it was not an insinuation. It was a fact. If audiences loved the show the way many on this board did, they would have told their friends, seen it over and over again and it would have kept running, ala "Avenue Q", ala "Spelling Bee", ala "Urinetown". Instead, it played to under 40% grosses. The fact that the show did not live up to audience expectations is not the only reason the show didn't run, but it's the main one.
Sad
But, they made it. Their dreams came true, and we have to be proud of them for that.

This was the first show I've seen in a very, very, VERY long time that I have absolutely loved. I will be so sad to see this go.
Yeah, the feelings here shouldn't be sad, but bittersweet. It completely sucks that it's closing, and it shouldn't be, but at least it made it to Broadway, had a couple month run, was seen by a bunch of people who wouldn't have otherwise, and is the sort of show that will still be quoted/listened to/etc by theatre aficionadoes for years and years.
As for "Xanadu," I don't even understand why anyone's the LEAST bit sad. NO ONE involved with the show thought it would last this long (A year and a half?!? Really?!?), and while it may have only lasted because money kept being pumped into it, it's a huge success on this level, and it really should only mosey off Broadway with a "huzzah," not tears at all. Personally, I find it inexplicable that it had such a long run, but it's impressive, and I just don't understand anyone saying these TWO shows closing is such a sad one-two punch. Be sad/bittersweet about [tos] if you must, but just smile for "Xanadu" and say goodbye and kudos.

Again, completely illogical, bordering-on-stupid comment. Most audiences who saw [tos] DID love it. The problem is most of its audience was young theatre fans who -- I don't need to tell you -- tend to only see shows using student rush, lottery, or way cheap balcony seats. My parents, for example, saw "Spelling Bee," "Avenue Q" and "Urinetown" and had no interest in [tos]-- it didn't have the luxury of being launched during Tony Award seasons, and thus, having nominations to help market it, and it was never going to become a universal cultural phenomenon like those shows (well, kind of) were.
It was a difficult show to sell other demographics on, and unfortunately, young theatre enthusiasts as fans can only get one so far financially.

Tickets are still on sale through the end of October. Weird!
"I just didn't feel that the show was fit for a broadway house. As others have said, it would have had a verryy long run if it had stayed off broadway. I just didn't think it was broadway ready, and needed to close."
YEAH! I KINDA FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT "13", WICKED_BEAST.
Really? I'm going to be mad if I buy tickets for October 12th and then they don't actually close it!
No. It's closing, SingingCats.
The news just came out. It will take about 2 - 4 days for them to fix that. There was a similar problem with XANADU.
I'm sad for the fans of the show. It wasn't my favorite, but contrary to popular belief, I didn't HATE it. There were a few things I liked a lot...just overall it didn't do it for me. But I do understand the sadness at something you love closing.
As for the whole "They're still selling tickets, will it really close?" thing, thank you Rent for creating a whole new culture of "we're closing...but not really". *headdesk*
Sad to hear it is closing, but glad I have a ticket for October 6th.
