This is expected but heartbreaking. I wish I lived in NY so I could see it. =[
I'm just thrilled that they got to achieve their ultimate goal of being on Broadway, it couldn't have happened to a better group of people.
"People keep saying the show would have run longer off-bway but the truth of the matter is the show NEEDED to open on bway to finish its journey."
I understand what you're saying, and I've heard this before, but 'need' and 'deserve' are two very different things. I think every show 'needs' to open on Bway if someone else will pay for it; very few writers aim for less than that. That doesn't mean they deserve to. The truth is it was a lovely little show which 'needed' to run off Broadway if it was going to run at all. It could have been an institution off Broadway, where the costs are lower, ticket prices are lower and expectations from the audience not so high. Oh, well. The cast had a magical three months, and that's certainly something.
I don't think this show is closing because it didn't live up to the expectations of the audience and thats an absolutely asinine insinuation to make.

Hey guys!!
I'm so bummed about this. Question, since you guys are the ALL KNOWING in my opinion, will they close with the matinee or the schedule Sunday evening performance?
Will somebody please post the part of "Part of It All" about the inevitable closing and the necessity of becoming part of it all again?

To rise back up and just start over again
We'll be part of it all
so glad i got to see this Thursday night. it really is a wonderful little show. I'm still hoping it gets some Tony nominations, or even a win or two. First A Chorus Line, then Rent, followed by Xanadu & [tos]. ugh! why can't Grease close instead.
I'm sad it's closing (and I wish I could see it again), but I am happy that it made it to Broadway at all. I hope the cast and creative team continues to have some kind of success on Broadway.
Now we will never know who shot Mindy.
My heart just broke.
At least it got to Broadway and at least I got to see it once.
But still...ouch. I thought Xanadu was the worst news, but this takes the cake.
Stupid vampires!!!!!
And why the same day they decided that Hunter and Jeffy are eligible for Best Actor Tonys, with Heidi and Susan for Featured. I know this doesn't make them ineligible or anything, but still - what a mixed day. Mrrf.
And gr8twhiteway beat me to it, but I just listened to the entire recording again and was going to post those lyrics: a part of dreading the day they post the closing notice... it's so sad.
At least they made it to Broadway.

[depressed]
wow. I've officially had the WORST day!
This is quite depressing... I'm so glad I saw it when I had the chance a couple of weeks ago.
I never got a chance to see it, and unless some miracle donor comes into my life with a flight to NYC I never will. Still, the knowledge of what these guys were able to do has inspired me more than anything else in many years. Thank you Jeff and Hunter for following your dream and sticking to your guns.
[dejected] so sad!!! If only it had made it a few months longer I could have probably found a way out to NY by Christmas Much love to [tos]!!!!!! <3
This is really sad news.
I wish the cast and creative team NOTHING but the best. They are all incredibly talented and have determination like I've never seen.
They have done something (whether you like the show or not) very different and they took a huge risk and in the end, it may not have been the most financially wise idea but I know the show has touched many people's hearts and minds and challenged their perceptions of what musical theater is and what it can do and how it can evolve. Doing the latter is a far better gift than any financial gain.
Congrats to the cast and crew, you guys really fought against the odds and won over many people's hearts.
Well this is really sad. I just saw the show tonight for the first time after loving the recording since the beginning of the year. But I have to say congrats to all involved for making it this far and best wishes for the future!
I just cannot believe it. Such an incredible show. I had really hoped it would make it through til Thanksgiving, cause 4 times was not enough! I hate living in VT... I just listened to "Part of it All" (and I'm not a crier) but I sobbed like a baby when Jeff sings "A part of dreading the day they post the closing notice" it's just too heart-breaking

Ugh! I LOVED this show! It was so good. They should tour it. I was just thinking about the day it would close today actually - I assumed "Reasons to be Pretty" would take the Lyceum. I guess Xanadu will be my next show - I don't know how I missed that it was closing.
Even knowing that it was coming, it is still pretty sad to hear. :[
Oh man... I knew this was coming, but so soon? Amazingly enough, my trip is from the 10-12, so I now have tix to both this and Xanadu on the 12th. A lot of tears will be shed that day...
