Ok i am searching for a Sad song that is going to make people cry when you sing it (woman solo). Tell me what song you remember to most when you listen to it over and over again.
There were a ton mentioned in this thread -
Sad Songs
"Distant Melody" in PETER PAN.
"On My Own" - Les Mis
"Somewhere That's Green" - LSOH (lyrics aren't sad...but just the speed and feel of the song makes it seem depressing)
Nothing - A Chorus Line
"I Never Knew His Name"--Civil War
"The Honor of Your Name"--Civil War
"Bring Him Home" -- Les Miz
LOOK AT ME I'M SANDRA DEE (REPRISE) - GREASE or GREASE! (take your pick) LOL
Jesus Christy Ally!
Ever heard of "search"?
There are simply too many to choose just one - but I really love Children and Art from Sunday in the Park...that one gets me every time (as do a majority of songs from that show)
Children & Art gets me every time. I'm crying now.

I Don't Care Much and Elaborate Lives Neither one of them are for women solo's but I think it would be cool if a girl could pull off IDCM.
There are so many touching female solos in musical theatre....
I really like
Come to Your Senses for Tick, Tick, BOOM
Once Upon a Dream for Jekyll and Hyde
Heaven Help my Heart from Chess
Stars and the Moon from Songs for a New World
Still Hurting from The Last Five Years....
As you can see, i have a lot of favorites.

Your Daddy's Son from Ragtime
I second (or third) Matt & redhot.....Children and Art, although Beautiful is very nice as well, though it's a duet...
How about "wishing you were somehow here again" from Phantom?
There's also one in Into the Woods....I can't remember what it's called, but I think it's "You are not alone" it's really sad as well.

I'd add "Momma, Look Sharp" from 1776
Quiet Please, There's a Lady Onstage
Once Before I Go
Both from BFO

Almost any of the female solos from Nine. All are absolutely amazing.

I gotta third Il Adore... I NEVER cry... but this brought tears to my eyes.
I made a lot of people cry when I sang I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables. That is a WONDERFUL song in my opinion.
