Derek, anyone can get famous nowadays. It's sad, but true. Doesn't mean they're talented.

"And typically they choose people who can act"

You're giving the producers of Wicked waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much credit.
BSoBW2: I punched Sondheim in the face after I saw Wicked and said, "Why couldn't you write like that!?"

more a glinda then an elphaba. but still no. she kinda shakes a lot when she sings. she does thislike twitch with her head and body. so does ashely..in all seriousness maybe it's nerves but it just doesn't look right.
A dancer might dream to see her name in lights and mean it, but all she really dreams is to make someone else feel the way she did when she first saw a dancer. And that is so beautiful-Anonymous

I agree she does twitch, and move her hands way to much, i wouldn't want her to fall when she tries to sing defying gravity twenty feet in the air.

She does move her arms a lot when she sings, but I don't know... she can stay a pop singer, but she shouldn't try to move into the broadway territory.

you may think im crazy, but i think jessica kinda sounds like idina lol.... she does that whole gasping sing, and they hit notes very similar. jessica actually used to sing really good when she first cma eout, it just seems like her producers or someone is telling her to sing like britney... but when she goes for the big notes they're good, its just that nasal crap she does now... she could stop that though.

mommy make it stop!!!

yup I think you're crazy...
How do you know she could stop the "nasal crap"? She DOES NOT sound like Idina... I'm sorry but what an insult

jessica simpson could never sound like idina - thats an insult to idina AND everyone else who can sustain a note without the sound coming through her nose....

Um, why are we still debating over this, i think majority says no.
I'm a Thespian, wanna watch?

ummm i like jessica simpson, don't get me wrong or anything...but she is not fit for a broadway stage...she has a voice i can definitely say that...but not for broadway...and i just don't think she would have the elphaba or the glinda acting down...she just wouldnt be right for it!!

"wouldnt jessica simpson make a good elphaba???"

It would only work if they changed the character's name to Epileptica.

Which is almost as brilliant as my suggestion of Harvey Fierstein as Elphaba and Nathan Lane as Glinda...

jessica didn't always sound nasal like that until recently with this cd... download iwanna love you forever or something like that.. girl can blow. i think she could probably definitely belt like idina, back then atleast... dont you notice how she does that damn nasal voice at like the beginning of songs, and when she does big notes she just belts them. i dunno, i just wish she wouldnt make that nasal crap anymore... i think she thinks its sexy but its not working. i read in a review of one of her cds that she sounds good until she does that "sexy **** cat voice" or whatever they called it.. i really think she does it purposely and could stop it.

If she played Elphaba, you wouldn't understand a word she was singing the entire night, and she'd made those weird faces.
There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.

Sheesh, I bet Jessica Simpson doesn't know what "defying gravity" means. However, the whole concept made me laugh, but NO!
