Overall, I thought the production was well executed. The set and costumes were gorgeous. However, the sound mixing was uneven at times, and the use of handheld microphones felt awkward.

In what seems to be a the beginning of an era where producers serve up regurgitated touring productions disguised as “revivals,” it’s a joy to see a truly fresh take on a classic musical return to Broadway.

This was going to bomb with or without Chenoweth’s ignorant Kirk remarks.

My two cents:From what I’ve seen and heard (though I haven’t seen him live in the role), Billy doesn’t seem like the right fit for the Emcee and may be the weakest casting in the revival.Sepsis is extremely serious especially for someone who is immunocompromised. I wish Billy a full and speedy recovery. I also don’t think the production or Billy owed us an explanation for his absence, particularly given the severity of this illness.
