Did anyone else watch tonight? I found it to be a bit of a mixed bag, but mostly enjoyable. I’m surprised they gave us songs from part 2. I would’ve thought they’d try to save as much as possible.
Overall, I thought the production was well executed. The set and costumes were gorgeous. However, the sound mixing was uneven at times, and the use of handheld microphones felt awkward.

You folks must have been watching something other than the atrocity I witnessed Thursday night. I can't imagine another two hours of hideously realized garbage that could do a better job of putting people off the Part Two of the movie version of "Wicked." Above all else the show confirmed my feeling that both Erivo and Grande are simply awful actors. Their freakish appearances -- Grande's emaciated physique and tattoos and Erivo's disgusting nails out to there -- are terribly off-putting. The worst song of the evening was "Defying Gravity." Erivo stood center stage looking comatose while singing a deadly version of a blockbuster song totally devoid of energy. And I suppose the powers that be thought it was a cute touch to have Grande sing "Popular" to a little kid who obviously wasn't into it at all. Dreadful. And what about that audience of some of the most repellant shills I've seen in sometime. Thaey cheered and cheered every little thing on stage. It all came off phony as hell.. I shouldn't forget to mention that embarrassing "For Good". It only served to remind me of how much Menzel and Chenoweth brought to the show in the theater. But please somebody help Menzel on the fashion front. That pantsuit did her no favors.
I thought it was for the most part well done. Grande might get an Emmy for she was authentic. I think it was more of a 90 minute special. I would have axed the audition tapes and some of the skits. It was weird to have Jonathan Bailey absent. I was a bit uncomfortable with the audience reaction shots for they seemed artificial. The previous poster was rather harsh. Commenting on looks is rather low.

Genuinely curious what went wrong in your life to make you such a miserable person
I felt I was watching AGT with all the fake audience prompts and Bowen (why he has to insert himself in everything)

I lasted two minutes before that audience was enough. I’m sorry grown adults shouldn’t act that way ever. Yes it’s nice to see a star, but come on. That alone was what made it unwatchable.
how long did they actually need to tape this? each number was overdone outside of "For Good" w/Cheno & Idina. Erivo flying was nice but I wonder how many takes they had to do? The audience was the only really annoying part of this.
That story above said it was multiple takes on nearly every number.
Overexposure much? It is everywhere. I think I lost it with the Lexus x Wicked commercial featuring the Jon Chu family.

I loved it! Arianna doing Popular with the little kid as Elphaba was so cute and shows what a wonderful performer she is. I thought I would be bored with another For Good, until Idina and Kristin came on. Defying Gravity was a triumph in staging, even though I was sort of expecting it. Well done all!

And with everything they had to cut, it probably took around four hours to film.

WOW someone is angry today. I will always be one to admit I thought the casting of Cynthia and Adrianna was gimmicky and that it would suck, and that 2 parts is a money grab...but I LOVE THEM and love the first movie and cant even imagine it being done any other way. Last night was light and fun and they both make me smile everytime they are together because you cant fake chemistry and they have it in spades....The little kid with Arianna was adorable, even though he looked nervous , which added to the cuteness. Sorry I have to disagree 100 percent
Bowen is a bit much and for someone who is an insignificant character that could have been played by anyone ,he seems to act like he was ELPHABA or GLINDA lol,,,,it is because of his SNL ties and that this show was on NBC also...I do get it but enough of his TEETH sticking out thing he does

What I witnessed Thursday night was nothing short of magical — a breathtaking, two-hour reminder of why Wicked remains one of the most beloved musicals of our time. This production doesn’t just set the stage for Part Two of the upcoming film — it elevates it. Every frame shimmered with imagination, precision, and heart.
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were revelations. Their performances — soulful, daring, and visually mesmerizing — proved they’re not just singers, but full-bodied storytellers. Erivo during “Defying Gravity” was hypnotic, her control and emotional depth electrifying. She turned the song’s famous crescendo into a master class in restraint and release — a performance so intimate, you could feel the silence listening back.
Grande’s “Popular,” meanwhile, was a dazzling surprise. Her playful chemistry with her young scene partner radiated warmth and joy, giving the number a touching, modern spin. It was cheeky, clever, and utterly irresistible.
The audience? Ecstatic — and rightly so. Their enthusiasm was infectious, their cheers organic. It wasn’t hype; it was gratitude. In that room, you could feel generations of Wicked fans celebrating the story’s rebirth for a new era.
And when Idina Menzel appeared for “For Good”? A moment for the ages. Her shimmering vocals, paired with Erivo’s emotional intelligence, bridged the past and the future in one exquisite gesture. Even her understated, power-suit look reflected confidence and timeless grace.
The witches are back, bolder and brighter than ever.
