TAMMY FAYE Previews Oct 24
2024, 08:38:23 AM
Katie is a revelation. Her performance anchored the entire show for me. Found it entertaining, the staging, the lighting, sets - it all worked for me. Some off the songs are excellent, some just meh. Empty Hands, You Didn't See Me Cry and He's Inside Me all stand out. I do think the book needed some more fine tuning. The material treats Tammy with respect as Jordan stated earlier. I wish we got to know more about Tammy Faye specifically in Act One.

David Mamet is one of the most horrible people both from a political stand point and creative perspective. The fact that Richards and Gold - not to mention Marber - are keen to dive into this play is a disgrace. I understand the economics of Broadway but surely there was another revival (god forbid taking a chance on a NEW play with that level of talent - minus Barr).
Mamet was always overrated in my opinion. From Speed The Plow to this to Oleanna. Hey, l

Shorts in the theater Jul 11

I will wear want I want, when I want. If I am paying $400 a ticket or $72 a ticket, I am going to be comfortable. I don't care what any of these fussy queens have to say.

Jason Robert Brown, Taylor Mac, Rob Ashford collaborating on MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL musical adaptation Jul 4
2024, 11:57:26 AM
Thoroughly enjoyed this show. It is J Harrison Gee's show not doubt about that. They own the stage. The audience went wild for them. Some excellent music and book - certainly could feel Taylor Mac's biting humor in that book.
I thought Tom was good but curious how the show would play if the character of Jim read younger. I also agree with an earlier post about him not getting every note. Curious to see what happens there.

Metcalf stars in Hunter’s LITTLE BEAR RIDGE ROAD at Steppenwoolf, directed by Mantello Jul 4

Excellent play. Samuel Hunter brings such a pathos and commonality to the piece. Laurie is of course excellent and Micha Stock goes toe to toe with her - an excellent heartbreaking yet wildly funny show. Well done Joe Mantello.

TAMMY FAYE will transfer to Broadway in 2024-2025 Season Jun 17
2024, 09:59:42 PM
Has anyone here received an e-mail and/or a refund from Broadway Direct? I emailed them this am to get refunded - and haven't heard any word back. I better get my money back. I bought these tickets to see Andrew (and I ain't mad at Jake Shears...) but still...they gotta do refunds right? No phone number listed and silence on my e-mail. Heck, I wanna free up my slot with Hills Of California but can't do that until I get refunded

Looking forward to seeing this. I'd imagine that they'll need some degree of recognizable names?
Also, curious as to any future plans for The Motive & The Cue to transfer to Broadway now

What is the worst production you have ever seen on Broadway? What is the worst show? May 19

a few more that spring to mind
BUTLEY - Nathan Lane. It was soooooo dull, drab and boring Had high hopes going in. Ooof
A CATERED AFFAIR - Up there as one of the most boring musicals, boring and very unmemorable shows off all time
WEST SIDE STORY (National Tour, Los Angeles, Pantages 2010) - This made (insert any middle school here) look like the high school in Fame compared to this lifeless dull production.

awww, Will Keen didn't snag one other not did Rupert Goold or Peter Morgan. Happy for the Stereophonic (fave play of the season) but was rooting for Patriots as well.
I hope this doesn't discourage Almedia transfers - our any West End transfers - in our

2024 Tony Predictions Apr 20

I am thinking Mother Play will take that spot you have for Mary Jane
Jeff Tupolski said: "With lots of Tony threads and predictions on specific races, I figured there should be a general predictions thread. I’m sure therewas one, but I couldn’t dig deep enough to find it. Here’s some rough predix to start off. Some reaches, and probably more hopedicting than I’d like to think, but like I said, they’re rough.

THE HEART OF ROCK AND ROLL Previews Apr 18
2024, 10:25:57 AM
Take an edible before. Or a cocktail. Or maybe both?
That Is some extraordinary talent on stage - also my first time in the James Earl Jones theater since it was redone and it is fantastic. Corey and MacKenzie, the entire cast are crushing it on stage. It was silly fun (I knew the hits of Huey Lewis but that's about it...) so it didn't have the same appeal to me like Moulin Rouge or & Juliet. I do wish the books picked more of a subversive lane.
