Did I just hear an alarm start ringin’?!
Tomorrow’s the day (March 18) that The Last Five Years finally arrives on Broadway, after 25 years of Off-Broadway and regional productions, plus an indie motion picture adaptation. The beloved Jason Robert Brown musical two-hander stars Nick Jonas as on-the-rise novelist Jamie Wellerstein, and Adrienne Warren as struggling actress Cathy Hiatt. This production is choreographed by Rick and Jeff Kuperman, with direction by Whitney White; opening night is April 6 for a run through June 22 at the Hudson Theatre.
“Experience the messy, euphoric, sexy, savage, fleeting rush of falling in and out of love in New York City at The Last Five Years, starring Nick Jonas and Adrienne Warren. She begins at the breakup. He begins at the first kiss. Both sides of this five-year relationship play out in 90 minutes at this heart-racing theatrical event.”
Who’s going to be “a part of that”?
Best of luck to everyone involved in the production. I'm amazed we haven't had a Broadway staging of The Last 5 Years before and I'm excited to see the show receive a much wider audience.
An invited dress was initially scheduled for tonight but has since been called off.
I’m pretty shocked this seems to be selling as slowly as it is. Maybe I just totally overestimated Jonas’ popularity nowadays but I figured these seats would move much much faster than they are.
The show will have a $49 in-person and digital rush (on the TodayTix app).

This is purely a theater lover's show and theater lovers were generally taken aback by his casting in this based on what we know of his vocal ability.
And then they released that horrible video of him singing Moving Too Fast and it confirmed every one of those hesitations. His name may not have meant much as it turns out, but confirming everyone's reservations before they play a single performance was a huge mistake.

Nick Jonas is not Joe Jonas... and Nick is the one who made public comments about being a Musk-lover, and those really hurt his audience base more than producers will ever realize. Tickets are not selling for this.
I sincerely doubt those are the reasons. The production releasing constant commercials and videos of them in the studio showing he simply doesn't have what it takes to sing the score is most likely the reason given the thousands of comments about it all over the interwebs.

Do you have a legit source to back up this allegation?

There are many potential factors that point to why this production isn’t selling better: Nick Jonas isn’t nearly as popular as he was when he was in How to Succeed; his Twitter/X mini controversy; L5Y is done everywhere, all the time, year-round; the material is a hard sell on paper for a commercial venture; there will almost definitely be zero spectacle in the staging; tickets are priced far too high for a one-act, two-hander musical; etc. I could probably think of more.
Combine all of that with the lack of advance sales on Broadway in general, and you get the picture of what we’re seeing. I’m sure numbers will look better closer to curtain, but this is absolutely selling slower than the producers expected.
When it went onsale with those ridiculous ticket prices, I decided to book only when there's a discount. Alas, haven't seen any. As for Nick is arguably more popular now that during the iHow To Succeed days (he closed the show prematurely) and I don't think ther lack of sales has anything to do with this tweets. I think it's most people want to hear him sing Jonas tunes, and most theatre people think he can't handle this score. So he's stuck in between.
After that truly awful video and now Nick as a Musk bro (not that kind of musk simmer down) that show is gonna tank. Eff anyone who supports Elon or Trump.
