Have You Left at Intermission? Apr 21

I don't know why, but I always stay.
I was sitting next to Barbara Walters at the 2002 Into the Woods with Vanessa Williams. She left at intermission.

After seeing Real Women Have Curves, I'd be shocked if Justina Machado doesn't make the cut. She was wonderful!

FLOYD COLLINS Previews Apr 8

bwaybaby12 put it far more articulately than I could, but I totally agree. It's a tough show and I get that it's not for everybody, but I thought the production was wonderful. Yes there are still some sound issues. (Second act was better than first in that regard.) I agree that Lizzy McAlpine was the weakest in an otherwise strong cast. But I thought it was beautiful and I'm so glad I saw it!

Tkts next day matinee? Apr 8
2025, 01:04:34 PM
This is completely unscientific anecdata but I feel like they release better seats on the day of and what we can get on the day before are not as good, both in terms of quality and price. Again, this is just based on my experience and not on any actual information.

I may be the unicorn who loves Broadway and musical theater and who never saw the TV show. (I was living overseas at the time.) I had heard Let Me Be Your Star, but otherwise came into today's matinee totally fresh on the material.
I'm definitely in the minority in this thread, but I had a blast and really liked it! Brooks can deliver a line like no other. Everybody was on today and the cast is uniformly excellent. The first act book

OPERATION MINCEMEAT Previews Feb 19

I went in wanting to like this based on some of the comments here. I used to live in the UK so I think I have some appreciation of British sensibility but this was a disappointment.
Others have pointed out the broad humor and the mugging for the audience. It's all that with some jazz squares. The cast seems to be having a ball, cracking themselves up. And there were some in Monday night's audience who laughed uproariously at eac

I'm always inclined to take front row mez because I'm guaranteed not to have anybody's head in my way.
The first time I saw this production of Gypsy I was front row mez and it was great.

A WONDERFUL WORLD: THE LOUIS ARMSTRONG MUSICAL Reviews Dec 31
2024, 03:44:48 PM
I went in with very low expectations based on reviews and WOM and I was pleasantly surprised. I typically don't have much use for jukebox bio musicals and this is certainly not groundbreaking theater but it was pleasant evening at the theater. I thought the choreography was excellent and there are some very strong performances (in spite of the issues with the book). This strikes me as the perfect show to take on tour.
Oh, and may we

& JULIET Replacement Casting Aug 18

I was at the Saturday mat, which I guess was his second performance. Before seeing this thread I actually didn't know he was that new in the role. I thought he was great.
I hadn't seen the show since a few weeks after opening. It's in very good shape and I really enjoyed it. Most of all Betsy remains an absolute delight!

MOTHER PLAY Previews Apr 7

I saw the Saturday matinee.
The performances definitely elevate the material. There isn't a plot development that you don't see coming a mile away. For me, How I Learned to Drive is one of the most powerful pieces of theater I've seen and this nowhere in that league. This is almost cliched and tonally it's all over the place.
You're really going for Jessica Lange and she doesn't disappoint. She's not doing anything you

APPROPRIATE Reviews Dec 28

I didn't know this play at all going in but had high expectations as a HUGE fan of Sarah Paulson and knowing that the reviews were all positive (but not reading them so I could go in fresh).
Unfortunately, this show really didn't do it for me. The acting was great across the board and the set is phenomenal. Those are the only positive things I can say. 2 hours 40 minutes was very long and more importantly, it was extremely unpleasant to sit and w
