Hello all. I'm pleased as punch to make my preliminary plans to visit NYC from Fri. June 20th--Mon. June 23rd, 2025. I'll be flying Southwest Airlines from Austin Bergstrom International to LGA. I've secured a reservation at the Paramount on West 46th St. It was the most reasonable rate I could find. I looked at two other places...the Mayfair (sold out) and the Washington Jefferson (closed, apparently). I am considering SMASH, Cabaret, maybe even Oh Mary. Conceivably, I could see a total of five show. I'd like to see at least one off--Broadway musical/play.
As for Off-Bway, I'm looking forward to seeing The Jonathan Larson Project.
Have fun on your trip! I assume you'll be making your obligatory visit to the Ambassador?

I've secured my first show. I'll be at the Ambassador Theatre on Fri.; June 20 at 8:00 p.m. to see my favorite show, Chicago. That will make it #36 (since St. Patrick's Day 2011), plus one concert version in 2019. I'm getting closer to 40. I would like to meet one specific person who is more knowledgeable about all things Chicago. My plan is to head out to Marie's after the show.
off-Broadway? Titanique? The Play That Goes Wrong? The Jonathan Larson Project? I think you'd like Gypsy. Something new? Try Dead Outlaw, Death Becomes Her or Maybe Happy Ending.
I saw Titanique the last time I was in town (Dec. 2023). I'll never forget it, because I had to run like mad from that little theatre to get to the closest train. I mean I literally ran alll the way from the theatre. It was not fun. Of course, I got on my train and made it in time before the show began at the Ambassador.
I had contemplated seeing Cabaret, solely to see Natascia Diaz, but alas, she is no longer with the show. I looked at the off-Broadway listings. I am very much interested in seeing "Bus Stop" at the
Classic Stage Company on East 13th. (Is that the name of the theatre?) Is that on the Lower East Side? Just curious. I thinking very intently on SMASH for sure.

Not exactly Broadway, but Hugh Jackman will be at Radio City for 2 shows on June 21.
Regarding your hotel, if you didn't pay in advance, I'd hold onto your reservation but keep checking back for lower prices at other (better) hotels. Rates go up and down, and with an expected drop in European and Canadian tourists and tour groups, there may be vacancies they are scrambling to fill.
Whether that happens or not, it's my general advice based on 25 years' experience making multiple trips a year to NYC to see shows. I've often been able to rebook at lower prices — even at my chosen hotel. And, yes, rates do also go up, but if you've got your rate locked in with a reservation, you're fine.
Have fun!

100% agree with this advice. We're doing our own theatre visit in early April and I've already rebooked twice. One important caveat: Book the new cheaper reservation first, and only after you have a confirmation on the new booking should you cancel the older reservation. Also, pay attention to the cancellation rules. Many hotels require you to cancel at least one or two days prior, otherwise you will be charged for one night. Be sure to read the read the fine print before booking.
What really burns me about the hotel reservation is the "resort fee" ($40 x3 nites). F.T. S. Now, on to the subject at hand. I'm kind of intrigued by "Boop". I may take a look at that show.

The name of the theater is the Lynn F. Angelson Theater, but I have a feeling most people just think of it as the Classic Stage Company. It's the East Village.
re: hotel advice. Also 100 percent agree, re: booking the new reservation before canceling the old one. I should have said as much in my post.
And, as stated, be sure to check and double-check the cancellation rules and deadlines. It can be two days, three days, a full week.

You should — we ALL should — be bummed out, or enraged, by those absurd and inhospitable fees. It's pure greed and extortion. I never use the "amenities," which for most NYC hotels boils down to a gym. New York IS my gym in that I walk pretty much everywhere.
I hope one day there's a critical mass of pushback that puts an end to this stupidity. Of course then they'll just raise the base rate.... it's a rigged game, always in the house's favor.
I have an update. Since I posted this thread, the only ticket I've ordered is for Chicago. I have been dawdling. Then, I remembered I had better get cracking about ordering a ticket for Oh Mary, since they're high sought after. I managed to secure one of the last two tickets left in Balcony C 22. The only problem is that the show begins at 5 pm. Somehow, I need to squeeze in another show before then. I will take a looksey at off-Broadway.
I regularly catch a 2pm matinee and make the 5pm Oh, Mary! Little tougher on a Sunday, of course, but usually one or two shows has a 2pm matinee or is 90 minutes at 3pm. Good luck! Have a blast.

Yes, a lot of excellent off Broadway offerings happening right now. Enjoy!
Roman, i think you'd love Titanique. If not, possibly Smash or Dead Outlaw could be your last show to fill your schedule.
I did see Titanique the last time I visited NYC in 2023. I remember because I literally had to run out of the theatre to catch the subway to get me to the Ambassador Theatre. Also, there were some major demonstrations at a nearby park. SMASH is next on my to do list. I'm waiting for the SMASH discount on Broadway Box before I get a ticket. By the way, where can I access the song list from SMASH?
Smash will most likely be up at TKTS. And you can always attempt their rush(online or in-person).

BOMBSHELL works for Smash (but TKTS discount should be better).
I have added a couple of more shows to my current list:
Friday, June 20th: Chicago (Ambassador Theatre 219 West 49th St. @ 8:00 p.m.)
Saturday, June 21st: Pirates: The Penzance Musical (Todd Haimes Theatre 227 West 42nd St. @ 2:00 p.m.) There were only a handful left of the cheapest seats.
Saturday, June 21st: Oh Mary! Lyceum Theatre 149 West 45th St. @5:00 p.m.) Is that the one with the entrance on one side and the stage door on the other side?. I remember seeing "The Nance" at this theatre. I briefly contemplated booking an 8:00 p.m. SMASH after "Oh Mary!", but that would have tested the limits of my sanity.
Sunday, June 22nd: SMASH (Imperial Theatre 249 West 45th St. @ 3:00 p.m. I am sooo looking forward to this one!
I have a spot for one more show after SMASH.
Absolutely do a third show after Oh Mary. Mary is less than 90 minutes, you'll have time to grab a relaxed dinner before any 8 pm curtain. I mean - why not? See what's on sale at TKTS that day and enjoy!

So, if the show begins at 5:00 and ends before 6:30 p.m.then perhaps I can see another show. Let me put my thinking cap on. So conceivably, I could wind up with a total of 6 shows.

Yes, it does certainly appear I have a slew of choices for a late evening show on Sat. June 21st and an evening performance on Sun. June 22nd. I'm curious about the Bobby Darin show as well as Boop. As an aside, I would like to meet some of you before my trip is finis. A good place to meet would be at Marie's. I especially would love to meet the one person in this board who is uber-knowledgeable about all things Chicago.
