Feels like the right time to start this thread one year into its New York run…
Melanie La Barrie will play her final performance as Angelique on December 30.
Stark Sands left the company in early August and was replaced by Austin Scott.
Curious how they’re sales are looking like this winter and if they could stunt cast Angelique. I think they should bring in kelly Clarkson for a solid 6 week run, just to help them out a bit.

Nah, bring her on as Anne when the time is right. She deserves a bigger part.
What’s Keala Settle up to right now, she needs to come back to broadway and I know she played the part in London. If not her, they’d probably ask any of the former Becky’s from waitress. Charity Angel Dawson and Natasha Yvette Williams will both be available.

The problem is that her talk show is a year-round affair with only intermittent hiatuses. This would mean the only feasible time off for her would be the 6 weeks during the end of July through after Labor Day. (Kinda like how Whoopi did with Xanadu in 2008).
Doing a talk show during the day and a Broadway show at night is already a bit of an insurmountable challenge (See: Rosie Perez juggling THE VIEW and “Fish In The Dark”). Couple that with her being a single mom and it’s a strikeout.
That being said, here are some dream ideas I have for replacement casting.
Juliet: Celia Rose Gooding, Jasmine Forsberg, Morgan Siobhan Green
Shakespeare: Mauricio Martinez, Justin Guarini,
Anne: Jeanna de Waal, Marla Mindelle
Lance: Mauricio Martinez, Tam Mutu, David Harris
Angelique: Crystal Lucas-Perry, L Morgan Lee, Jennifer Fouché, Keala Settle, Melody Butiu
Francois: Jordan Dobson, Antonio Cipriano

Note “when the time is right.” & Juliet doesn’t appear to be struggling at the moment and looks set for a potentially lengthy run, and who knows if she’ll commit to her talk show past 2025?
Some of my dream replacements / stunt casts down the line:
Justin Guarini as Shakespeare AND Kelly Clarkson as Anne, simultaneously
JC Chasez as Shakespeare
Tomas Matos as May
Joey Fatone as Lance
Bring Jordan Luke Gage back as Romeo, or promote Daniel J. Maldonado full-time
It would be sweet to see a Romeo/Juliet couple (doesn’t have to be big, bankable names) that are actually dating IRL!
Producers reportedly had a plan for Timberlake to step in as Shakespeare whenever sales started noticeably slipping, but those far-into-the-future plans are now up in the air thanks to the trashing he received in “The Woman in Me.”
I think Clarkson is too big of a name to be a replacement. Kelly needs to originate a role or write her own musical.
Kelly Clarkson as Anne, and Justin Guarini as Will.
For incredibly obvious reasons. #fromjustintokelly

Nothing at all to do with their talents, but if you combined ALL of these people in the show at the same time, their names would sell approximately 18 tickets.

We’re discussing potential replacements, which can mean stars or regular Broadway performers. The show isn’t in need of a star casting infusion at the moment since the music and the show seems to sell itself pretty well. As evidenced by Austin Scott taking over as Shakespeare, the show will do fine if they cast regular Broadway mainstays.

This show was the surprise hit of last season for me. Along with Neil Diamond, it's the last one standing.
Congrats

Loved her as Angelique. Excited to see what Austin Scott brings to the table though.

Austin Scott is a fantastic replacement. The show has not gone wrong in terms of replacements so far.
David Bedella joins the cast in his Olivier-winning role as Lance, replacing Paulo Szot from March 5 through July 15, after which Szot will return.

Another A+ replacement in fair Verona.
Paulo Szot played his final performance (for now) in & Juliet today, but Lorna just commented on her Instagram that it was “our final performance together.”
Clearly this means she is leaving the Broadway company before mid-July… any guesses on our next Juliet?
I wish Lorna Courtney could come over from the UK as our next Juliet - she’s my favorite to play the role out of all the Juliet’s I’ve seen.

You mean MTL?
I’m sorry, are you trying to suggest that Lorna should come over to the UK? A touring production is set to launch there in July with the cast yet to be announced; are you hoping she ends up there and stands by for MTL?
