I really wish Real Women could turn it around, but it’s just not happening sadly.

My favorite part of the year…! I’m hoping for more older shows than the likes of Ragtime and Urinetown this year.

Real Women Have Curves - Broadway Apr 11

Saw this on Thursday and walked out absolutely in love. I am amazed at how great this was. It really did shoot to my top pick for best new musical. I need to see it again.

Becoming Eve Mar 24

I saw this on Friday as well, loved it. Very thought-provoking and heartbreaking. I felt like I learned a lot about Hasidic Jewish culture by watching this which was fun.
I highly recommend, but do echo that they were working through a lot of things. My friend saw it on Sunday and they said that the things that I had worries about on Friday were already seemingly fixed so that’s good news. I’d like to go back post-opening.

JOHN PROCTOR IS THE VILLAIN Previews Mar 21

I absolutely loved this last night and think that it took over my favorite play of the year too. That was such a cathartic night of the theatre. Being from the South in a very rural school, I thought it was pretty reminiscent of my classrooms, granted I have been out of high school for 10 years now. Maybe my memory is fuzzy.
I haven’t seen such layers characters with a dialogue that actually seems natural in so long. I will say that this extremely did pander to m

BOOP! Previews Mar 12
2025, 12:01:30 AM
Sorry to double post… more thoughts.
I am really just so confused on why they highlighted the mayor of NYC as the main conflict of the show instead of Betty’s whole dimension being wiped out.
Also, the sister being hyperfixated on Betty Boop is very weird and not accurate for a cartoon that hasn’t had relevancy in decades. Even the world building of the show didn’t help with that.

BOOP! Previews Mar 11

Jasmine killed it tonight and I’m very looking forward to her Tony nomination.
SPOILERS FOR SHOW BELOW!
The show has… potential! Too much to fix in previews, sadly. It felt like nothing was happening. Both the mayor plot and Grampy’s love interest added nothing. Keep Grampy’s love in there a little, but they devoted way too much time in there.
They kept bringing up how bad Betty’s world would

The fact that Tammy Faye’s balcony is closed for the rest of the run is not a good sign it will sell as well as the first preview, which already wasn’t the best. I wish it well.

Welch’s GATSBY to premiere in 2024 ART May 26
2024, 06:17:28 PM
And yes. This score is bleeding Florence through and through. As a Florence fan, part of me wishes she could do a concept album herself, lol.
and mentioning dancing in my previous post, the ensemble is everything. The first and third tracks were my favorite because they were giving their everything on stage. Solea was also a powerhouse. A clear frontrunner in embodying her character, but I wouldn’t say anyone else lacked. Myrtle just had such a strong focus and

Welch’s GATSBY to premiere in 2024 ART May 26

I’ll mention more. The choreography is amazing. Very big high point through it all. I do echo the person who posted after me that wishes Nick would pine after Gatsby more. Him fully being realized as gay in this production but not obsessing over Gatsby’s “damned smile” in the book is a missed opportunity. They do subtly allude to Nick thinking Gatsby is gay. Don’t want to spoil, but wish it would be fleshed out more. That’s my main complaint. It’s min

Welch’s GATSBY to premiere in 2024 ART May 26

Saw it last night. Don’t feel like fully commenting on a show that isn’t fully ready. During the welcoming speech, Rachel mentioned that the sets were not loaded in and to use our imagination, haha. It was very charming the way she talked about it.
As this was their first full run, I thought it was amazing. I really want to go back in a month or two to see how it has improved. Some amazing things being done on that stage.

Is Days of Wine and Roses the early favorite for Best Original Score at the Tonys? Dec 27

I really liked it, probably more than most of the mixed reception and I am not sure if it could win best original score.

New Musical HELL'S KITCHEN, Based on the Life of Alicia Keys, to Premiere This Year Nov 8
2023, 12:09:18 PM
I managed to snag one of the tickets that opened up during the weekend and I am SO glad that I saw it. Truly one of the best things I have seen this year. I will say that I agree that I wish that the friends were more developed, but that is my one gripe?

Time will tell if this year’s few fall musicals will be next to close."
Exactly where my thoughts were. Sad that HLL did $100k+ in sales, but still pulled the trigger.

Cursed Child... right or wrong to support? Sep 17
2023, 08:51:13 PM
Personally, I also think it is a bit wrong to support. It’s complicated because Harry Potter means a whole lot to a lot of people… I am personally not one of those people. I also can separate art from the artist, but I don’t know.
I did end up seeing the show from a friend who ended up not going. I thought that since she already got the money… then it would be a waste to not use the ticket. It does sound a little hypocritical of me to say it
