There isn't a dedicated thread to this show coming to Broadway (just the ART one) so I thought I would start one. Previews begin April 1st at the James Earl Jones theater. I saw this promo online and thought I'd share. Looking forward to this one!
Not sure if this has been discussed, but oof! If this is the best they’ve got, I’ll save my money. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1HG8zkDJPA/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Off, that was not good - but the show (at least at the ART) is very sweet. It wasn't Bway ready, but a very enjoyable evening. Hopefully they've made some positive changes.
How is the line for the box office opening?
Not happening until Tuesday.
Whoops. I guess it got jumbled with the Stranger Things opening, which was on a Friday.

The stranger things box office opening was a few weeks ago...?

Yes, the Stranger Things opening was February 7, a Friday like James2 said.
Did anyone go this morning? From the pix it looks very crowded and fun!

That was the worst ran box office opening I have ever been to. Got in line at 9AM just for a second line that was self started on the other side to be honored. New security is called in to handle the crowd. Security decides to honor the unofficial line, since those people are yelling and upset. Didn't care about the people already in line for 2 hours without moving to honor the cutters. Left with no burritos and no tickets, but feeling really pissed off at how Shubert security treated us fans in line who just wanted and waited for tickets. Now I'm not sure about going back to get tickets. That whole experience left a really sour taste in my mouth.
Had a friend attempt this and he said it's was extremely disorganized and left before 10am. Absolutely no order with regards to who go there first and several random lines started forming without any regards to who got there first. Security was useless and catered to whoever was yelling the loudest.
Egads sorry for the experience. I don't understand how a second line formed? Wouldn't there just be 1 line outside the box office door?

They wrapped it around the front of the theater 3-4 rows each, so when security shifted, people just kind of started bleeding in and cutting wherever they could. Then a second line started...

this is false. There was no second line formed on the other side. Security asked us to move to the other side of the doors, breaking the existing line in half. They then held us until the other side finished. We were moved by security, who made sure that we then got our turn because we were moved to make room for more people. No one caught you, no one started an unofficial line, and security was very on top of it because I was just at the start of the section where they moved us. So the line went from one small section to the other side and then back to the other side. It was chaotic and disorganized because of construction and other businesses, but no one cut you. There was no unofficial second line.

I also wanna state that security was there at 8:20 in the morning monitoring the line, and were very apologetic when they had to split the line in half and move some of us to the other side. They promised all that they would make sure they still went in the proper order, and they did because no one cut me, and I was moved to be the second line starting. The security guards were constantly walking up and down, communicating with all of us, and, frankly, were some of the nicest security guards I’ve seen on Broadway in a long time.
I like to complain as much as the next New Yorker, but these were $20 tickets and security did a pretty darn good job, considering the construction and other businesses causing problems.
I also want to state that the advertisements all said that burritos would only be available while supplies lasted. If you were that far back in line that you didn’t get a burrito, you were never guaranteed one.

You can tell me I'm wrong. But I was there and spoke to security. I'm not just on BWW making **** up. But whatever.

I was there at 8:20. I spoke with security multiple times. You’re wrong. No one started their own line. We moved to the other side by security. No one cut you, we were there before you.
This seems like a lot of fighting for a show with lyrics (based on the Bway Con video) akin to a bad girl group challenge on Drag Race. Considering this will probably be gone by June, there will definitely be other chances to score super cheap tickets.

I’m not fighting over the show, I’m fighting over the fact that an entire group of people are being accused of cutting everybody else when we were there before this poster ever even arrived at nine.

They released an EP of 4 songs from the show, I do actually like the sound of these from a quick listen so I'm excited to see how they work in the story!
In-person rush is $49.
Digital rush and lottery starts April 2, $59.
I just went to see the dress rehearsal, this show could open tomorrow and it's in excellent shape (I can't say this about the other shows I have seen recently) this show was simply fabulous!
oooo! Exciting! Curious to see the changes from A.R.T.

Really pleased to hear this was looking good in its dress rehearsal. I’ve got preview tickets in a couple of weeks, and I have become slightly addicted to the songs already released. ‘Make It Work’ and the title song are real ear worms. It’s not a particularly original sound but that Latin beat meets theatrical bombast reminds me of In The Heights, and I love that score. RWHC has a decent story, plus the themes of immigrants fitting in within the USA feels extremely relevant….I’m quietly optimistic that this is going to be a good one.
