It reads much more mixed to me, praises the performances but the calls lyrics “pedestrian,” discusses characters who you shouldn’t care about, criticizes the scale of production versus the stage, and ends by saying it should be a chamber piece somewhere else.

There's a paywall, but Chicago Tribune's Chris Jones is positive:

All that said, my eyes were more moist than they were a decade ago, perchance a function of my age and growing sentimentality, but also of a story that just is inherently appealing, especially for anyone who has seen cherished friends drop away.

There is an audience for this sentimental piece, I think, given the relative paucity of sincere musicals this season. Women, especially, who remember and love the movie and its signature song will warm to its proffering of a thing devoutly to be wished: your most successful friend telling you they owe it all to you.

Enough for a nice matinee with a bestie, no?

When you set yourself up for it: "Despite Jessica Vosk, BEACHES Is Beached – Review" (Theatrely)

Negative on source material, book, set, but does praise the "hard-working cast"

NYTimes Laura Collins-Hughes is negative: "So it is absolutely bizarre that “Beaches” the musical, which opened on Wednesday night at the Majestic Theater, is a spectacularly unaffecting experience. Based on the novel, which is more of a backstage story than the movie, this adaptation arrives on Broadway a dozen years after its world premiere but seems like a corner-cutting rush job, in too much of a hurry to take the necessary care."

West End in August 2026
 Apr 17 2026, 10:07:38 PM

I'll add

Cyrano - RSC transfer at the Noel Coward

Hot Mess - The Other Palace (Cast recording is available to stream, give it a go!)

Death Note: The Musical - Barbican (World premiere and a no brainer if you like the source material)

And if you're day-tripping Leicester Curve will have the world premiere of The Silence of the Lambs Musical. It should be possible to do a two-show day with Birmingham, if you wanted; I did it over the Christmas period with&nbs

DEATH OF A SALESMAN 2026 Reviews

decotodd said: "Hi gang! I'm going to be in NYC for just a couple of days and only a few slots. I already committed to seeing FALLEN ANGELS because my husband wants to see it, but is it feasible to try and catch act 2 of DEATH OF A SALESMAN since FALLEN is only 90 min. no intermission? Obviously that doesn't do the full play justice, but I could at least see some of it and doubt I'll be back in the city before it ends. I'll probably spring for a ticket if so, rather than gambling on a same day discount."

Split up for the evening and each see your preferred show? Your husband can go shopping for you while he waits

40/41 Houses Full
 Mar 26 2026, 02:36:19 AM

It actually happened last spring, I believe, and would've actually been 41/41 if A Wonderful World, had made it a little longer to overlap with GGR at the Palace and Floyd Collins at Lincoln Center. There's an old thread about it on here somewhere.

Sunday Eve Shows in NYC

Admittedly, the image of her standing above the huge billboard with "Evita" written on it is perfect but that's going to be mess traffic-wise."

They probably won’t close the street—the opposite of Broadway has a plaza where people could stand plus the side walk is actually pretty wide

Promo code 'DAHL' for select dates through 5/11; some weekend availability in April, but mostly Tuesday/Wednesday performances.

It's possible; a regional theater I visit (Great Lakes Theatre, Cleveland) just announced it for spring 2027.

2026-2027 Season Tour Launches

RW3 said: "carlisle14 said: "Jersey Boys is hitting the road again with a big 20th anniversary tour across North America starting this September.

The hit musical about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons will be staged by the original Broadway creative team, bringing the same look, sound and feel fans remember.

Cities, cast, and tickets are coming later, but the tour adds to a huge legacy that includes major awards, millions of fans worldwide, and a long run in New York.

A U.K. and Ireland tour is also on the way, showing this show is still going strong two decades later.
"

Do we know if the US tour will be equity or non-eq?
"

The booking site says it's doing full weeks, splits, and singles so probably non-eq?

Also, I haven’t seen the “solo seat” block come up in a VERY long time - although I am a Gold member so maybe an exception is part of my perks?

I haven't had that problem arise in New York, but I was trying to get a solo ticket

Are There More New Musicals Coming?
 Nov 18 2025, 09:59:41 PM

The Last Five Years is on from 24th to 29th March, about a month before the last date Evita could open to qualify for Tonys., and even for that 6 day run it would have to have at least a short rehearsal period before that.

That timing just doesn't make sense for Rachel to.do both with the rehearsal and preview period they would need for Evita.
"

Just thinking aloud here, but why does Evita need to open in this season? If, hypothetically, the Majest

I believe that came from The Rolling Stones article: https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-pictures/waiting-for-godot-behind-the-scenes-1235416439/godot_rehearsal_andyhenderson-95/

The rehearsal set appearing to be skate ramps and then one of the sections referring to “Skating into the Sunset” and “reimagining classic plays”
