When understudies SHOULD have gone on Jan 15

I saw Legally Blonde a few times where Laura Bell Bundy maybe should have called out. It became commonplace for her to take a breath during the final note of “So Much Better” but one time she had to break it up into three held notes. I was frankly shocked she came back for Act II. (Love her, though!)

It’s a nice venue, but all the Playbills are locked up behind a case and it takes forever to find an usher to open it up.

It’s a trick question. You can’t buy toothpaste in a Duane Reade, or CVS for that matter, because it’s locked up to prevent theft (and good luck finding someone to unlock the case for you)."
But you can buy it. I buy my toothpaste at Duane Reade. Either it’s locked up or

I personally don’t even hate the movie, but I think it misses the mark in a few key areas despite having ambition and a quartet of strong central performances. My Oscar Villain comment was more about how many people (this is to say

I suppose that's true. I agree that you need someone with gravitas and a commanding presence. Michelle looks stunning and sounds great, but she is missing that authority.

At the risk of sounding ageist, casting a “grand dame” of the stage would kind of defeat the purpose of a character selling youth and beauty. The women who have played the role in the film and on stage have been in the 40s range. I’m not sure how much more “seasoned” one can go for the plot to land.

I think that actually makes Wicked box office even more impressive since they came out basically a week apart. It's incredible that two films released at the same time both reached such heights.

I’ve always thought people underrate the show (if that’s possible, despite all the Tonys) because it didn’t continue to be a juggernaut post Lane/Broderick and that somehow got tied into the quality of the show itself. As written, I think it’s a glorious piece of musical theater.

Why is Elphaba green? I know who her father is, but that doesn’t really explain it, or where she gets her power from. The glowing green elixir, I’m sure, but where did that come from?"
That’s kind of the extent of the explanation in the stage show. There’s a line in the show, like, “she was a child of both worlds,” explaining her power. So, kind of no explanation,

The one thing the Golden Globes can do for the Oscar race is help build a narrative and momentum. True, there’s not much overlap otherwise but at least it keeps your name or film in the conversation.

Ariana Grande Is Credited in ‘Wicked’ as ‘Ariana Grande-Butera’ Because ‘That Was My Name When I Went to See the Show’ at 10 Years Old
“I just feel like this experience was such a homecoming for me. I feel like I came home to myself in a lot of ways, through what I learned from Glinda, from Elphaba,” Grande explained, glancing at Erivo, who was seated next to her. “And, you know, that was my name when I went to see the show when I was 10 years old. And it felt like a really lovely way of honoring that. It felt really full circle, and it just felt like something I wanted to do.”

Simple answer, Broadway plays do not get huge media attention. A huge hit musical (Hamilton, Wicked etc.) will be known by the general public that does not really care about Broadway.
"
Yeah, I think the comedy lies more in: if someone wrote a a hugely successful play about you specifically, you would probably know about it. Just a silly anecdote not worth further scrutinizing.
