The Public Theater - Ethan Lipton’s “The Seat of Our Pants” Dec 8
2025, 02:09:55 PM
I’d love for this to have a future life and am thrilled to hear it’s being recorded. It was one of my favorites of the year as well.
But without a few more cuts, it’s a tough sell for mainstream audiences. It’s close to 3 hours (with a very long act 2), has multiple tones and isn’t super populist but more outlandish.
I think a limited run subscription house could work well if that’s the goal but I don’t know if The Public has

Jason Robert Brown Says Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil Is Still Waiting for a Broadway Theatre Dec 5

He’s being snarky but I’d bet it doesn’t. If Beaches and Titanique are coming in instead, I don’t see any room.

The British board had said Fear would transfer - sounds very good so looking forward to that.
Curious to see how Titanique goes.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 11/30/25 Dec 2

I’ve seen casting notices to replace that I believe were for Broadway so they might be trying to have it run past one year.

The Public Theater - Ethan Lipton’s “The Seat of Our Pants” Nov 24

I really clicked with this as well this weekend. Both a beautiful and very fun score. Great ensemble. I don’t know if all of the meta theatrical stuff worked but more of it did than didn’t.
And the last 15/20 minutes were quite moving.
I would probably move the intermission. It’s an odd split of time.

SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS with Raul Esparza @ Lincoln Center Nov 24

The homoerotic aspect with JJ and Sidney definitely felt present in this version. Pretty early on too. Click Here To Toggle Spoiler Content For the ending, I don’t think it’s as sentimental or optimistic at it sounds on paper. It’s made pretty clear that Sidney getting the column will destroy him in the end. Still felt true to the noir gen

MARJORIE PRIME Previews Nov 23
2025, 04:37:31 PM
90 minutes is right. Ushers were saying 85 min this afternoon but with the late start, bows were at 3:29 so probably done by 3:30.
There was also a brief talkback with Harrison and Kauffman this afternoon.

Yeah - it’s about 1:10/1:15 in.
At the door they were saying 1:45 with in or addition to intermission - couldn’t tell.

Ran about 2:15/2:20 tonight. Score is stunning. Esparza made a meal out of it. Liked the younger cast as well.
I haven’t seen the original but - Click Here To Toggle Spoiler Content The ending is very different than the film’s. I liked it.

Working Girl probably not coming this season - needs work and funding. Heart is open to coming if the right size house appears. They may go off broadway while they refine the material. Bedwetter- no idea where it could go size wise.
Winter Garden - play. Jones - Play. Majestic open but huge- wonder if they regret chasing the Phantom
