A real bummer, I think it's a gem a show. But they were never able to break out and the marketing decisions were awful.

What a shame. I truly loved this show --- it blew all my expectations out of the water. I loved Maybe Happy Ending and think it deserved all it got, but this was a truly innovative work that featured everybody involved firing on all cylinders.
It's the kind of show that could gradually become a cult classic and have a hit revival in 20 years --- but that's always a shame to me when the original production is as perfectly and stunningly designed, directed and performed as this was.
Not surprised, but very disappointed!
It should have stayed off Broadway, yes?

My favorite musical of the season. It reminds me of The Visit, another darkly comic one-act with a brilliant score that never caught on with Broadway audiences
Wow. Per the NYT, 14 previews and 73 regular performances.
Have three open-ended shows up for eligibility closed just a few weeks after the Tony ceremony before? Real unprecedented time for new musicals we’re living in.
(I’m conditioned to seeing the losing shows struggling financially shuttering around August - September.)
Sad to hear as I was hoping to see it this summer. Not sure exactly what happened. When it was announced, I think a lot thought it could be the strongest competitor to MHE. But it never really figured it out for its Broadway run after the off Broadway love. I agree it could become a cult classic that gets revisited down the road.

This isn’t surprising but sad nonetheless. A delightful surprise of a show with terrific score and performances.

Sad. I really enjoyed, but I guess inevitable. Easily my favorite score of the season.

Agreed. Should've had its run at Minetta lane and timely closed. Baffling why it was brought to Broadway in its current shape. Horrible stage design, disjointed direction and really, really strange, morbid theme that didn't click with majority of the paying audience. Good score, but that can be listened to on digital platforms. Less weird, "passion project" stuff and more musicals people can see themselves in and relate to, please. Those tend to stick around for a while.

Were Smash, Boop, Real Women, and Dead Outlaw the last new musicals to open in the 24-25 season?
Oh wow - that just happens to be the performance I have tickets for. It'll be interesting having the final performance be my first/only viewing.
Really glad I get to catch this one before it closes, I really liked their Tony performance.
I adored this show. A shame it didn't find a audience on Broadway. I'll try and get to the closing show

Yes, because if anything is wrong with Broadway right now, it's that it's too weird and full of passion projects instead of attempts at mass appeal.

A real tragedy. In my opinion, this had the best score of the season by far.

It will be a good show for regional and community theatres to do.

Don't get me wrong, I love weird, unconventional and even pretentious, but stories humans can relate to sell far better. Dead Outlaw is a very underbaked production. Like thrown together last minute. Maybe a smaller theater, better scenic design and thought through marketing in the next season could've helped them. Too bad.

Just in Time and Old Friends werr after Smash/Boop but before Outlaw/RWHC
Not at all surprising that it’s closing, strictly from a numbers standpoint, but somewhat surprising that of the four shows expected to post notice after the Tonys, BOOP is the longest to hold out.

For the record:
''BOOP!'' opened April 5.
''Smash'' opened April 10.
''Dead Outlaw'' opened April 27.
''Real Women Have Curves'' also opened April 27.
It's not the opening date that's killing 'em. It's the show.
''Just in Time,'' for one, opened April 26, and it's a big hit!

Are the producers of BOOP just pumping money into the show to keep it running until further notice? It's never come close to reaching it's weekly nut. Comps are easily obtained and they hand out $40 rush tickets to anyone that wants one.
It was an overrated downtown cult hit that I knew was never going to find its audience on Broadway. Just listen to the music as the score is better than the show! Clever idea for a musical but in return found it unengaging.
So many on here raved about it but that's only BW denizens that don't mean much!
There was no world in which Just in Time wasn't going to do well, regardless of when it opened.
I do think, however, that having a riskier property open in a time dense with openings, some very high profile, makes things more difficult to break out. By the time April rolled around, the narratives and the winners of this season had more or less already been set.
Sorry that it did not make it. It was my favorite score of the season.

No. They are just trolling 'MrsSB' for another week until her head explodes.
