Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 10/19/25

Not a bunch of room for a bump.  This is a show that is at 98%-100% weekly.  Solid ticket prices already.

Broadway shows are picking Baltimore to launch national tours. Here’s why.
 Oct 8 2025, 09:35:30 AM

The tax incentives have been great for the Baltimore economy as the tours originating from there brings in so many jobs and so much spending.  The article has a paywall for me, but there is quite a list of shows that originated in B'more lately..

Gatsby Feb 2026, Maybe Happy Ending Fall 2026, Water for Elephants Sept 2025, Phantom Nov 2025, Ceilidh The Musical (North American Debut) Sept 2025, Life of Pi Dec 2024, & Juliet Sept 2024, The Wiz (pre-Broadway run) Se

Should Six be looking into off-Broadway houses? That number is awful

Six is in trouble.  Even up 9.5% over last week, still a number that means they are hemorrhaging money.  I thought

Review of Ceilidh the Musical (Baltimore)
 Oct 6 2025, 01:58:01 PM

Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) is a unique and FUN night out.  It is currently just in Baltimore.  Backed/produced by Alan Cummings, one of Scotland's most beloved actors and directors (currently known by US audiences as the host of the popular reality show The Traitors), this is an experience more than a show. Chairs line the dance floor, as the show involved loads of audience participation and dancing.  As the story unfolds, the entire audience is encouraged

Chances of a Strike?

Predicting some very dark times ahead on Broadway.  The downturn is well underway already, and things aren't getting better anytime soon.

BroadwayWorld Launches My Shows: A New Way to Track and Share Your Theatre Experiences
 Sep 30 2025, 02:37:57 PM

I have been paying for the Mezzanine App for a few years.  I really like it and its ease of use.  It is a big more polished than this, but Mezzanine comes at a cost of $15 a year.

BROADWAY DISCOUNTS

That was fun.

Any insights on how to get on the mailing lists for discount codes?  I am a semi-frequent Broadway visitor and have bought from the venues, from TKTS, from Ticketmaster, from re-sale sites, etc... but I haven't ever gotten a mailer.

Water for Elephants - National Tour Review
 Sep 29 2025, 11:24:13 AM

I was able to catch the launch of the National Tour of Water for Elephants at the Hippodrome in Baltimore.  Some thoughts.

Tours typically run Tuesday-Sunday, but this being the premier launch of the tour they started with a Saturday show.  Despite it being a Saturday and the tour launch, the Hippodrome still had to offer Lucky Seat and discount rush tickets to fill the house.  Rush and Lucky Seat continue to be offered for the week-long run.  Hippodrome has on

National tour launches September 2026 in Baltimore — very curious to see how all the technical elements tailor-made for the Broadway run will translate.

Baltimore continues to be a favorite launch point for tours.  The Maryland legislators have given huge tax breaks for the arts, making it much cheaper than many spots.  Close enough to NYC to get that connection.

Great lineup!!!!  You guys are lucky.

I just saw the Clue on tour a few months ago and loved it.  But I had never seen the movie nor the show, so I was going in blind.  I found it to be very fun and very funny.  It gets mixed reviews, but I will say I was pleasantly surprised by it.  I expected it to be a throw-away filler show for subscribers, but I will say I put it up higher on my comedy list than Book of Mormon.

My guess is Magic = Potter, Majesty = and Juliet, Electrifying = BTTF. That also tracks with what's been announced for other FL Cities.

Have you already had Six?  That could be the "majesty" clue. &nb

Lin Manuel Miranda's WARRIORS musical

RussT2 said: "Before I started this post, I searched to see if there were any previous posts on this subject on the site, and I didn't see any. I know a lot of people do not like Lin, but a few weeks ago I heard about his 2024 re-imagining of the 1979 movie THE WARRIORS as a musical where the WARRIORS are an all female gang, so I went to Spotify to listen to the album. I've been playing it for weeks and I think it's fantastic. I hope it becomes a Broadway show or a movie.

In case anyone hasn't heard it, here's the link:

MANY more people love/admire/like Lin than not.  I think there is a very loud minority that complain on him ... but his work is pretty widely embraced and enjoyed.  I certainly love most of his stuff.
