Though it's not my favorite Passion (that would be the CSC version) Elena Rogers was the greatest Fosca I have seen to date. David Thaxton was wonderful, but it was just the beginning of the idea that this was Georgio's story, not Fosca's, which was certainly developed more intensely later in the CSC production."

Bumping this old thread because I was curious if anyone else saw this production and had opinions. Even with the Olivier win, there doesn't seem to be any promotional footage online. After seeing him in Sunset Boulevard, I'm very curious about Thaxton's take though, of course, he looks very different as Max than he did in 2010 playing Giorgio.

I don't know how the other Sallys are, but personally, while I really enjoyed Adam's presence, I think Auli'i grounded her performance in a way I didn't see from clips

Interesting. I did find the score curiously high-pitched when I saw it but I couldn't identify why.

I would also add that hard rock isn't as suited to musical theater voices. And it's harder to make the story work in a biomusical compared to the sincerity of American Idiot or irony of Rock of Ages.

I understand the tone of some of the 'haters' in this thread has been smug and obnoxious, but I have really tried to be even-keeled in my comments, give Jamie Lloyd credit for the very intentional choices he is making, and explain why some of them don't work for me. There really isn't a need to come at me like 'haha gotcha!!!'

Thank you! It's exciting to hear they're still making changes. I thought they didn't quite make the manosphere bit work, Dawn got a little lost at the end when Dentata took over, and they rushed the ending for the pastor. I still had a great time but it could be an even stronger show if they're tightening up the book.

Have there been any cast absences lately? Is it more fun during the late shows? My Titanique crowd was a little subdued.

As discussed lastweek, theycouldget rid of the prologue and the pre-show meal(and if they're gonna kill one it probably makes most sense to kill both), but that would be a major change that would generate some bad buzz. Probably best to ride it out with tho

Most of the orchestra seats are gone now for the next few weeks. Does anyone know if they held seats back for rush or if they're selling mezzanine seats now? When I went, it was orchestra and then balcony. If I have to climb up to the miser

It's not as bad but I vaguely remember a Norma Shearer role where she was trying to play a teenager. Maybe it was Marie Antoinette when she was 36?

Anyway, I agree with Mellony that the current production has more to say about mental health and misogyny than ageism and that is what's so striking about how Nicole plays the role. Even with the comedic beats, she makes you believe t

SUFFS To Play Final Broadway Performance January 5, 2025

Honestly, knowing this announcement was coming (from looking at the grosses) without some kind of miracle boosting ticket sales, I'm just happy they're continuing to say open until January. I wonder if winning Best Musical would have helped.

This was a very special show for me and just on the basics of musical theater composition, far ahead of many other shows that have opened in recent seasons.
