MHE did 8 shows this week, which would account for the slight bump in gross, but the average ticket price is still dropping and it dropped as percentage of capacity. There is no show that is going to survive pulling in these kinds of numbers, and it's really becoming clear that without the massive discounts being offered, capacity would be even worse. Word of mouth isn't pulling in an audience and unless they get some really stellar reviews, it's toast. My guess is that MHE will to limp to opening night and then close within a few weeks at most. Right now it's just burning up money.
It was a bad week across the board, which is really unfortunate for the shows that are closing (with the exception of BTTF). I hope that they all get a bump for their final performances.
Sad to see the numbers for Maybe Happy Ending, as I adored it and it seems to have almost universally good word of mouth, but they just don't seem to be able to get people into seats, even with the low ticket prices. I hope it catches on but at this point I don't know if they're going to be able to.
Really great numbers for Death Becomes Her so far though!
Well, MHE at least has positive word of mouth going for it, on top of lower costs and the likelihood of good reviews. It could rebound if stars align and make it through to the new year.
Tammy has none of that going for it. It's truly DOA, in a way I don't think we've seen in a while.

In addition to each of the new musicals this fall debating early closures, I also think we should start expecting SIX and/or Moulin Rouge! to post their closing notice(s) in the coming weeks / months.

Neither are in danger of such imminent closings. MR has grossed over a million for all but 6 weeks in the last year (and even those 6 weeks, it was pretty close to a million).

A friend of mine connected to Disney Theatricals recently mentioned that Disney was back talking about a BATB revival but they wanted the Palace back. Looks to me...that may now be an option with Tammy failing.

If Disney is serious about putting that back in the Palace, I just pray they abandon the current cheap community theater looking production they’ve been peddling and go back to what made the original so special.
I don't doubt that Disney wants a Beauty and the Beast revival (esp considering all the talk about it for years) but I really doubt that it would happen so soon. Tammy will be gone by the holidays at best.

Just noting that this is a traditionally terrible week for the theatre with Halloween, the marathon and the time change always wreaking havoc, and the election adding further distraction. Numbers for some shows should start improving when this week's figures get reported.
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

I could see Six but I don't think MR is going anywhere. I think Hadestown is more likely to close than MR.
Those are some kind of the worst grosses I've seen for a new musical since Lightning Thief. Tammy Faye ain't going to be around much longer.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
So so rough for Tammy! It needs excellent reviews to keep it afloat since word of mouth is over for them. I see it closing before the holidays with these numbers. Also rough for A wonderful world and Swept away, which one will be gone by January?
I give Tammy Faye MAYBE until after Thanksgiving to see if they might get some holiday tourists but YIKES. I had a thought the other day - would Tammy have better fared at the Lunt-Fontanne and DBH at the Palace? Both are large shows, but there clearly was an overestimation of appeal to fill the audience. One forboding clue I suspect is that they moved Autumn Hulbert’s first alternate performance to this past Sunday, instead of the 24th - so I think they may have wanted to give her a chance in case it folds in short order
Maybe Happy Ending is a sad case because it has a really good premise and score. People say it belonged off Broadway but they would not have been able to accomplish the massive tech aspects of it somewhere else.
Cabaret has the odd circumstance of Auli’i Cravalho being out since 10/28 and not back until 11/13. Anyone have an idea of what happened there? It’s possible her absence might be a contributing factor.
Left on Tenth staying afloat and making as much as it has is a baffling phenomenon, but I guess the housewives from Teaneck are taking to it over other fare.

Weren't there a bunch of pre-agreed dates that Auli’i Cravalho was going to be out? I remember when I was looking for tickets around this time she had always planned to be out.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
