'Swept Away’ to Close on Broadway December 29th

ACL2006 said: "But why enact the stop clause when the theater doesn't have another tenant until March?

Or was SWEPT AWAY really that close to not being able to pay their weekly nut and their rent on the theater?
"

The stop clause was enacted, but the original December 15th closing date was a choice by producers because much like Tammy Faye the show was hemorrhaging cash likely loosing between $200K-$350K a week since the first wee

BACK TO THE FUTURE will transfer to Broadway in 2023

I 100% agree with the assessment. Just let people have their opinions
"

But Theatertok says we cannot critic shows otherwise we are potentially putting performers and back of house staff out of work. We can only talk about the good aspects of shows otherwise we are terrible people who hate theater and should be banned from attending Broadway shows.

Chances of Caissie Levy Led NEXT TO NORMAL Coming to Broadway?

JasonC3 said: "A pretty reliable poster at Theatreboard says full cast transfer Fall 2025. Can anyone here confirm?

"

The transfer is dead, it was originally taking the Booth in the Spring, but then with the Lead Actress in a Musical race shaping up the way it was, they decided to push a season, while the show was still running in the west End. Then sales in the West End were significantly lower then expected, so David Stone decided to cancel the transfer and just film the production instead. The only way this production is coming in is if they get a name for Diana, as unfortunately Cassie is not a big enough name to sell tickets.

Tammy Faye lost $25M in 6 weeks and all the online controversy surrounding it final week and it could even get above 50% capacity? I would of thought online chatter would of translated into ticket sales, I guess not.

I mean, when your average ticket price is so low and you're apparently papering like crazy, how could they be doing any better? I'm not saying this is a winning strategy or anything, just that given the (self-imposed) constraints, I don't think they're doing too badly. Obviously it can't continue beyond previews, but I don't think anything

The timeline for this does not align with Caroline's departure. From my understanding producers where scrambling behind the scenes to find a replacement before it was announced on July 29th. The entire cast was on 6 month

My guess is Akimbo announces a late February or early March closure just after the Holidays so they can run a see last years Tony Winner before it closes campaign.

How to Dance and Harmony on the other hand could announce any day and still hypothetically still close before years end.

Harmony has a smaller hill to climb then Ohio, but I wouldn't be surprised if we get notice for either next week for 12/30 or 1/8.

I saw someone say they think Akimbo will likely post after the holidays and it wouldn't surprise me either, and a 15-16 month run for a such a small show that's had a terrible marketing campaign and next to no non-theater community support is nothing to poopoo  about. While Kimberly Akimbo will also likely close at a loss

SHUCKED will close January 14, 2024; TOMMY rumored for the Nederlander
 Oct 13 2023, 01:21:13 PM

From my understanding producers are actively looking to move the show to another theater as the show has consistently made money since Tony nominations came out. It wasn't making a ton of money, nor was it on track to recoup its investment, but was still consistently turning a profit. I had some friends who were at Glass House last night also tell me the cast was there after the news broke and they overheard them discussing where they think they might move. So the question at this point s

Since when did Kimberly Akimbo cost under $500K a week? Yes I fully acknowledge the apparent $410K and $520K operating costs seem outrageous with what is actually happening on stage, at least Kimberly Akimbo has 9 principal performers and 6 offstage principal understudies.
