Getting together before HELLO, DOLLY's last performance Jul 28

I’m interested in meeting up. I’d prefer something other than Juniors. Too touristy for me.

Desperate Measures? Jun 23
2018, 05:54:41 PM
I saw it at the York and recently at New World. I think it’s hilarious. I thought the music, costumes and sets were inventive and unique. It’s a super fun and smart show.

Tony Shalhoub May 31

It’s ShalHoub. Y’all need to start spelling his name with the same conviction as Benanti and LaChanze. This is ridiculous.

I'd like for SHALHOUB to take it. Notice spelling please.

His name isn’t above the title. They’ve been extremely mum when it’s come to his absences thus far (planned or unplanned) so I’m not surprised.

Tomorrow is definitely his last show. Confirmed by multiple cast members.

Just spectacular. Made me tear up a bit too.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/20/18 May 22
2018, 10:22:07 AM
Agree about the set. When they announced the tour and then the closing I assumed the show was closing so they could use the set on tour. It would only make sense. The set is so gorgeous and lush that to recreate it would be quite expensive. The same goes for the costumes.

It's a whole lot harder to act in a restrained manner than aggressive or shouty. I have seen Tony's understudy James Rana, Dariush Kashani and Tony. Tony is by far the most effective and believable Tewfik. I think that speaks to his skill as an actor.

Favorite Musical this Season? May 15

On Broadway, The Band's Visit. Off-Broadway, I really liked Desperate Measures.

Souvenir Programs? May 15

Although this isn't exactly on topic, I feel it's relevant to say that I miss Colony Records a lot these days. The vast wealth of knowledge the staff had was immeasurable.

Marin Mazzie/Jason Danieley @ NJPAC May 14
2018, 10:07:15 AM
I was there as well. An extraordinary set that yes, does make you want more. I wish they sang more from their album. Someone at the 8:30 show actually requested "Abba Dabba Honeymoon". Both Jason and Marin were in fine vocal form. I was hoping that the setlist would be similar at 54 Below but Jason mentioned on social media that they have a whole new show. Guess I'll have to go to that as well! I do wish they would record a follow up duets album as well.

HELLO, DOLLY! Sets August 25 Closing Date; Bette Midler to Return July 17 Apr 20
2018, 09:05:28 AM
I saw Bette three times, Donna seven and Bernadette twice (once more on July 15th). I have no interest in seeing Bette again. She was great all three times I saw her but I enjoyed Donna and Bernadette much more. It's been a great show and had a fantastic run! This show brings so much joy to everyone it touches!

New book on Rodgers and Hammerstein Apr 10
2018, 10:28:31 AM
Sounds and looks wonderful! Can't wait to read it. I loved the interview yesterday on Fresh Air. I had no idea that a woman(her name slips my mind) did additional orchestrations for The Sound of Music and The King and I.

Zellweger film JUDY is film adaptation of END OF THE RAINBOW Apr 10
2018, 10:19:46 AM
I did and I have read several articles about the upcoming film. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm also aware of Garland's vocal capacity during that time period. Judy sounded better then compared to Zellweger in Chicago.

Zellweger film JUDY is film adaptation of END OF THE RAINBOW Apr 10
2018, 09:32:44 AM
I am a self-identified Judy Garland purest and loved Judy Davis. This looks and feels like a total disaster. Renee will (as far as I've read) be doing her own singing instead of using Judy tracks, as Judy Davis did. She does not have the acting nor singing chops to be touching this very sensitive time in Judy's life.

Official Bernadette Peters in Hello, Dolly! performances thread Mar 19
2018, 09:38:09 AM
I too was disappointed that Jennifer's departure wasn't annouceed. She was hilarious in the show and definitely deserved more recognition! Her understudies are Jessica Sheridan and Carmen Ruby Floyd. I am hesitate to see either of them in the role as they don't strike me as comedians. And before anyone says anything, I know Carmen played Gary Coleman in Avenue Q but Gary was more of a "straight man" in the show leveling out the other characters.
