Will and Jada Pinkett Smith to star in STREETCAR?? Jul 16 2010, 06:15:19 PM
Call me crazy, but I have never understood the whole "So And So Is Not Right For The Role" argument based on things like "he isn't butch enough" or "she is too butch" ; Isn't that why they are ACTORS? Actors play people who are not like them all the time. Yeah, radical, eh? A soft-spoken, shy, effete actor can play a loud, foul-mouthed street hooligan character, and an abrasive goofball can play a painfully shy character, because that's what acting is. Sometimes these big-star vehicles on Broad

Anyone Else Think 'Working Girl' Could Work As A Musical? Jul 3 2010, 11:23:39 PM
I have to say that it sounds like a good idea, but the writer would have to be phenomenal. Working Girl is probably the only contemporary film- alongside concidentally, another Melanie Griffith movie, Something Wild- that truly evokes the old Hollywood screwball films that revolved around blonde "bimbos" ala Judy Holliday. The script to Working Girl is so smart and has so many layers, that any adaptation would face a very uphill climb to stay true to its sharpness and intelligence. And yes, who

Kiss of the Spider Woman revival? Jun 29 2010, 01:30:36 PM
Carlos, when I saw Kiss Of The Spider Woman, I was actually trying to get into Sunset Boulevard, but that particular day, I couldn't find any tickets, so I went into Kiss reluctantly (At the time I thought that a pop star in a big Broadway role wasn't necessarily a great idea) but I was blown away by her awesome-ness. lol As for Karen Olivo, are there any other big musicals beside West Side Story and In The Heights that require a latino lead? I would also love to see a brand new show w

Carrie updates??? Jun 29 2010, 03:30:20 AM
This show has some of the most beautiful music have ever heard, musical theatre or anywhere. Sweeney Todd, Chicago, Cabaret have all proved that dark can work as musical, but like so many people have mentioned, this needs brilliant writing to succeed.

Kiss of the Spider Woman revival? Jun 29 2010, 03:18:39 AM
I would love to see a Karen Olivo, Ricky Martin, Raul Esparza KISS revival, but realistically, that would probably not be a box office hit. For that, they would probably go for Catherine Zeta Jones, Hugh Jackman, and Ewan Mc Gregor...

Ricky Martin Will Be In 'Evita' Jun 29 2010, 03:13:46 AM
Ricky Martin's casting will most likely draw big audiences, especially latino ones. Like someone else mentioned, he hasn't had a radio hit at mainstream pop radio in over a decade, but he has consistently released hit after hit on US latin radio stations, and his Spanish-language albums have always landed on Billboard's Latin Albums charts. And now, after his coming out, I'm sure a lot of gay men and curious people of all persuasions will likely attend...
