Seeing Zachary Noah Piser as Evan Hansen was an unreal experience for me. I think that was the first time I had seen an Asian man leading a show in a role that Asianness was not inherent to. As a fan of Christian Borle and Andrew Rannells and this show, this is very interesting! I saw it twice in London and while I loved Rannells in it (and thought the emotion he brought was very good), he didn’t feel essential to the show the way Katie Brayben did (and I’d even say Zubin Varla felt more important than him). A couple interesting design elements I think are different tonight from when I saw it ThursdaySolea Pfeiffer’s costumes have had a color swap. Her main dress now has a red top layer, and her Shakin Off The Dust costume is black (and pretty similar to the ensemble). Matthew Amira also has a red shirt. It wasn’t an actual “invited dress” since the delay meant the attendees are just the normal ticket holders for what would’ve been the preview that day. I wonder why they didn’t just call it the final dress.And yes, before Thursday was canceled we were offered refunds whether or not we still attended the “invited dress”, which I guess if still true for yesterday may somewhat affect expectations, but not in the same was as an actual invited dress.

They've been pretty confusing about it all, but Saturday matinee was canceled, Saturday evening is “invited dress” for pre-existing ticket holders, Sunday is first preview.

I saw this tonight from the standing area and really enjoyed it! Standing for the entire time definitely takes a toll but I think it was worth it for the unique experience of the whole thing. I can’t say if it’s like this every night, but tonight there was plenty of space and nobody was pushy about getting to certain spots.As mentioned in other posts, as the pieces of the stage rise and lower there were staff moving us out of the way in preparation or letting us know we could fill in a space....
