I agree 100%. I saw Lempicka this past Sunday matinee. Sat 6th row and could not help but be distracted by the girls in the front row. Such over the top reactions. There is loving the show and then loving the show so much that you distract others from having an experience for themselves. Such attention seeking behavior is diagusting.

I was at yesterdays matinee. The show was stopped after “A Whole New World”. Issues with the flying carpet. There was about 30 minutes left of the show.

Perhaps Ruthie is wise for not doing HLL. She did it 10 years ago. Things are different now. There is a chance of controversy since she is Korean and NOT of Filipino descent. There could be huge backlash, especially from the Filipino community. It is a choice part that doesn’t come often. Perhaps they should cast it properly. Maybe she knows that and doesn’t want to get “cancelled”.

Aladdin seems to be doing better than just “holding on”. The New Amsterdam Theatre is Disney’s flagship theatre. If they didn’t close Aladdin to bring in Forzen, they certainly ain’t closing it for Hercules. If anything will close Aladdin, it will be the Beauty and the Beast revival, which is at least two seasons away from coming in.

Saw this tonight. Was really rooting for this show and wanted to love it. Maybe it didn’t help that understudies were on for Penny and Russell, but I found everything about it to be mediocre. And forced. I didn’t care for any of the characters whatsoever. If felt like a regional production of a Broadway show from years ago. Really disappointed.

Most of us can agree that “Some Like it Hot” is a good show, but clearly something is missing if people are not coming to see it. IMO post-pandemic, it’s a show that needs a star. It can’t just be a “great” show. There needs to be a draw to bring people in. It needs to be an event that people want to pay top $$. Imagine if “The Producers” opened with musical theatre names as opposed to Broderick/Lane. It wouldn’t have been what it bec

If Here Lies Love did come in this season, it could be a big contender for Best Musical. Even though it is a busy season of new musicals, there is no heavy front runner. At the Public, it extended 3-4 times and then reopened for a commercial run of about 8-9 months. That ain’t too shabby. The exposure on Broadway and a possible best musical win would defintely help give it more legs. But I agree, The Broadway is a big house to fill but who knows?? HLL could be this season’s dark h

I agree with you. I think popular culture and theatre history will forever associate the actress who originates this role on Broadway moreso than whomever did the original

If Here Lies Love is planning to transfer this season without Ruthie, perhaps they already have an Imelda in mind. Maybe Lea Salonga? She is Filipino actually, unlike Ruthie, who is Korean. Is she too old to play the role?
