Re: Disney's Hercules at Tuacahn 2027

Sep 14, 2026 — 1:05:34 PM

Aladdin’s pilot production premiered at the Seattle 5th Avenue in summer of 2011. The following summer they released the rights to Tuacahn. Actually I think MUNY also did it. Those were the only 3 regional productions prior to to 2013 pre Broadway tryout in Toronto that I can think of. It did not spend a decade in regional theaters.

If not cast with a star, I would expect it to be assigned to the supporting actor category by the Tony Committee. Broderick had far more to do in Plaza Suite (which I did not see, so I cannot opine on the quality of his performance). As I remember, he sings just the one song, which is not vocally demanding."The MB idea doesn't make sense to me - Mr. McClure was spectacular in the show."I wouldn't say ...

LEMPICKA closing May 19

May 13, 2024 — 2:42:17 PM

I agree 100%. I saw Lempicka this past Sunday matinee. Sat 6th row and could not help but be distracted by the girls in the front row. Such over the top reactions. There is loving the show and then loving the show so much that you distract others from having an experience for themselves. Such attention seeking behavior is diagusting.

Aladdin cancelled today

I was at yesterdays matinee. The show was stopped after “A Whole New World”. Issues with the flying carpet. There was about 30 minutes left of the show.

HERE LIES LOVE closing November 26

Timing is everything. Unfortunately, waiting 10 years to bring it in AND opening in the summer were it’s biggest downfall.

ONCE UPON A ONE MORE TIME Broadway Previews Thread

I was pretty stoked as a Britney fan and as someone anticipating the show since the Chicago announcement.I enjoyed Act 1 -- fun night out vibes, don't take anything too seriously and even the jokes weren't all the most creative, it was still enjoyable. Several uses of the songs made me laugh like Work, Bitch, Piece of Me, Scream & Shout. I thought standouts were the Stepmother, Snow, Prince Charming, and the comedic timing...

HERE LIES LOVE to transfer to Broadway in spring 2023?

Jan 29, 2023 — 10:52:13 PM

Perhaps Ruthie is wise for not doing HLL. She did it 10 years ago. Things are different now. There is a chance of controversy since she is Korean and NOT of Filipino descent. There could be huge backlash, especially from the Filipino community. It is a choice part that doesn’t come often. Perhaps they should cast it properly. Maybe she knows that and doesn’t want to get “cancelled”.

Disney’s HERCULES - News & Discussion Thread

Dec 27, 2022 — 2:26:54 AM

Aladdin seems to be doing better than just “holding on”. The New Amsterdam Theatre is Disney’s flagship theatre. If they didn’t close Aladdin to bring in Forzen, they certainly ain’t closing it for Hercules. If anything will close Aladdin, it will be the Beauty and the Beast revival, which is at least two seasons away from coming in.

ALMOST FAMOUS closing on January 8

Dec 27, 2022 — 1:55:06 AM

Saw this tonight. Was really rooting for this show and wanted to love it. Maybe it didn’t help that understudies were on for Penny and Russell, but I found everything about it to be mediocre. And forced. I didn’t care for any of the characters whatsoever. If felt like a regional production of a Broadway show from years ago. Really disappointed.

SOME LIKE IT HOT On Broadway - News & Discussion Thread

Dec 18, 2022 — 11:39:52 AM

Most of us can agree that “Some Like it Hot” is a good show, but clearly something is missing if people are not coming to see it. IMO post-pandemic, it’s a show that needs a star. It can’t just be a “great” show. There needs to be a draw to bring people in. It needs to be an event that people want to pay top $$. Imagine if “The Producers” opened with musical theatre names as opposed to Broderick/Lane. It wouldn’t have been what it became. I feel like the Christian Borle or Adriana Hicks parts...

HERE LIES LOVE to transfer to Broadway in spring 2023?

Dec 2, 2022 — 2:00:40 PM

If Here Lies Love did come in this season, it could be a big contender for Best Musical. Even though it is a busy season of new musicals, there is no heavy front runner. At the Public, it extended 3-4 times and then reopened for a commercial run of about 8-9 months. That ain’t too shabby. The exposure on Broadway and a possible best musical win would defintely help give it more legs. But I agree, The Broadway is a big house to fill but who knows?? HLL could be this season’s dark horse.

MadsonMelo said: "I can't believe a tony winner with such a resumée as ruthie chose to do a sweeney revival playing a thankless role as the beggar woman than lead a lead musical that she has received so much acclaimed before, but I like the score of this show and hope it success anyway"I agree with you. I think popular culture and theatre history will forever associate the actress who originates this role on Broadway moreso than whomever did the original Publc Theater version.
