Pedro on Broadway would be fun. Strangelove was not successful nor very good.

I can’t imagine producers of Damn Yankees replacing Rob McClure with Broderick, but…strangers things have happened.
Hmm...thanks for posting. Few allusions to things already rumored (and I'm never gonna give up hope on an encore run / transfer of "Jellicle Ball") and some new interesting ideas. I believe this is a site that the producer Jeffrey Richards has a hand in (?)
And I think when buzz around Sarah in new production of "The Goat" started, I wrote - *entirely* out of "I'd love this to happen", not having any actual insider knowledge - how brilliant Pedro would be, both w/his longtime friendship with Sarah as well as (having studied the play) I think the two of them are *ideal*. Mercedes Ruehl's performance in the original production remains etched my memory, only maybe equaled by Sally Field's totally brilliant work when she took over.
As for Matthew Broderick ostensibly in the "Damn Yankees" revival......nothing personal against him but just seems so entirely wrong for what I figure would be Mr. Applegate. According to some D.C. friends, Rob McClure is terrific.
Anyway, I do enjoy speculation season quite a bit, and if my completely unfounded "Wouldn't Pedro be great" post a few weeks ago come true, I'll starting sharing lottery number predictions with y'all. :-)
I don’t get the Pedro hype. Sarah will eat him alive during the second half of The Goat
Cats and Dog Day Afternoon rumors are accurate as far as I know.
Haven't heard that Pedro rumor, but would love for it to be true. I think his only previous Bway stint was that godawful King Lear. He had a forgettable role (and the production was nearly unwatchable) so I'd love to see him take on something better.
Dr Strangelove wasn't all that successful in the UK, was it? Before that part of the sentence, I expected that rumor to be about the Wet End transfer of Benjamin Button. I guess I wouldn't call that film "iconic" necessarily, but the producers are eyeing the spring.
The Matthew Broderick one is strange...I have to imagine that they would want to keep costs down as much as possible with a revival like this. And Broderick would certainly command a way higher salary than McClure. With both Sunset Blvd. and Gypsy failing to recoup, it probably behooves producers right now to make the production a star, instead of any single "name" being the selling point. Especially if the show needs to run for quite a while to recoup (and it will).
Word is BENJAMIN BUTTON has the Hudson and we're just waiting on exact dates.

Would have to be summer or fall Seaview has another rotating celebrity thing in the spring.

She’s kind of supposed to, no? Stevie’s the one who unleashes the fury of the play and enacts its violence; Martin’s tragic, but kind of a sadsack.
I think the Paulson/Pascal dynamic would be exactly the right balance for a revival, and their chemistry as longtime best friends certainly wouldn’t hurt.
Broderick is one of the few performers that will stop me from buying a ticket and I don’t believe that he, on his own, is much of a draw.

Dr. Strangelove received 85% on ShowScore and mixed critical reviews, but I believe it sold pretty well.

I hadn't seen a theatre announced for All Out, the rotating celeb show.
Does Benjamin Button draw from the movie, or is it considered based on the F Scott Fitzgerald story?

Neither, believe it or not. It has the basic idea of aging backwards but is a new story that uses the (Public domain) short story's name to sell tickets.
Oh. Well, thanks. I guess it's not that, then.

Oddly enough, I was talking to one of the staff at Seaview last night after complaining that the seats not being renovated was a tragedy considering the work they did on everything else. He told me that, as of right now, they are planning to be closed next summer/possibly into fall to renovate the seating area - it just wasn’t able to be done in time since the turnaround of the facility prior to the start of Angry Alan was quick
Re Broderick in Damn Yankees... what if he brought along SJP as Lola?
I'm imagining everyone reading this to start choking with rage.

He should let Nathan Lane do Lola.

Motive and the Cue has been scrapped for now. All three leads that were due to transfer have moved on to other projects.
