SMASH Reviews Jun 10 2025, 04:45:38 PM

This, BOOP and Real Women all closing on June 29?"
Is this just speculation, or based on something concrete?

Little Shop...Who Leads? Anyone know? Mar 2 2025, 11:00:11 AM
I’m planning a trip to New York in July. Trying to decide whether to include Little Shop. I’ve seen it many times before, but not this production. Is there anything in particular to recommend/differentiate this production, or is it a pretty standard version?
Also, does anyone know how long the current leads are contracted for, or whether there are any rumours about who the next leads might be?
Thanks!

If you’re merely providing this invaluable service to your friend, why the need to post it (twice) on Broadwayworld? Just tell them directly!

Banning Food in Theatres Feb 23 2025, 03:32:07 PM
Funnily enough, at Scissorhandz in London this evening, someone in the front row was continually rustling their bag of Maltesers. One of the performers (Emma Williams) turned to another performer during one of the lighter moments of the show and said “sorry, I’m just so distracted by the sweets in the front row… it’s SO loud!” It was a great moment, and the bag of Maltesers was swiftly put away…

Banning Food in Theatres Feb 23 2025, 10:19:39 AM
Couldn’t agree more. I really don’t understand why theatres generally only cover mobile phone disturbance in their pre-show announcement. Devil Wears Prada (in London) is the only show I’ve ever been to where they specifically said in the pre-show announcement that the rustling of food wrappers is really annoying - I hope other theatres follow suit, as it can totally ruin a show if you’re near someone constantly making food noise. I’ve written to ATG to rais

Erivo to host the 2025 Tony Awards Feb 20 2025, 04:56:40 AM
Although she is undoubtedly talented in the roles she plays, I find her own personality to offer little of interest - and I’ve certainly not detected any humour. So I’ll be interested to see how she does when hosting.
Also, having followed her career for a long time, I previously found her (on social media, anyway) to often be abrasive and self-important. So I’m sceptical of this post-Wicked public persona.

Mean Girls @ The National in DC - Reactions Nov 26 2017, 05:23:34 PM
Hi - I'm coming to New York next year, from the UK. First time in a while. I've been looking at Mean Girls tickets at the August Wilson Theatre - surprised at how expensive it is compared to the West End! Paying $250 + fees is really unheard of here. I've narrowed down my seat choices (still expensive, but more bearable....) to front orchestra on the side (around row D, E or F, 3 or 4 seats in from the far side) or front mezzanine on the side (row A, about

Pippin: First Row Partial View May 17 2013, 07:16:05 PM
I sat in the front row at Pippin, and although being so close did have its good moments, the view was extremely restricted. What annoyed me the most was that when I booked the tickets (online), there was no mention whatsoever that these were partial view tickets - the first I knew of it was when I picked the tickets up immediately before the performance, and saw that the tickets had 'partial view' written across the middle of them. I don't find that acceptable

The meaning of Pippin Apr 25 2013, 01:10:26 AM
I don't think it's as simple as saying that he grows up; the fact remains that some people do achieve extraordinary things (as Pippin attempts), even once they have grown up. Is the implication that Pippin has failed in life by not achieving these things, or that he has found the true meaning of life (and that extraordinary things aren't actually important), or that for most people, the reality is that grown-up life just isn't extraordinary?

The meaning of Pippin Apr 25 2013, 12:38:16 AM
Just got back from Pippin at the Music Box. It was a truly amazing cast and production (but that's another thread....) On the way back, we were discussing the meaning of the story, and had interpreted it differently. So I was interested to know what others felt: By the end of the story, is Pippin satisfied and content with the simple life which he has established with Catherine, or is he disappointed that he isn't leading an extraordinary life (and has simply taken a safe opt
