I understand that people were initially critiquing this show for silly reasons (why are they using laptops????). And yes, those people didn’t “get it”. I see your point, but I still stand by my overall point. Understanding of women's treatment by the industry evolved drastically between the 50s and the 90s (and today). The musical reflects this by offering Norma more empathy. Yeah, people saying this will impact her Tony chances are delusional. But if she does win, that is going to be a tense acceptance speech and a very awkward atmosphere in the room.

I rarely get to see shows in previews since I don’t live in NY, but I’m very excited to see this early December!

I also think it’s telling that the people hyping this show up on social media, going to see it multiple times, dressing up as bloody Norma for Halloween, etc. are mostly young women and gay men. The biggest advocates for this production are those that are going to be especially adverse to Nicole’s beliefs.
