FROZEN to Officially Hit Broadway

Sep 6, 2017 — 11:20:29 PM

JennH said: "In Let It Go, that outfit transforms into a sparkly ice blue dress as in the movie. We only see this for about 10 seconds before end of Act 1.In Act 2, I'm fairly certain it's the exact same dress, just with an added cape. We only see this For The First Time In Forever Reprise in the (non existent) ice castle.Morepics might need to be seen because this is not what previous ones have shown...unless they made the change from that white prom type dress for LiG to the "iconic blue" o...

VintageSnarker said: "I am suddenly worried about the replacement for the "trolls." Can anyone report back on the relative cultural sensitivity of these characters"I didn't really find anything culturally insensitive about the mountain folk or whatever they were called. For one, they have tails, glowing eyes and magical powers so I don't think we're supposed to believe they're human. Their costumes basically look like they're covered in tree moss and branches so they're not mocking any sort o...

Blockhead24 said: "Did anyone here see Karli DiNardo as Peggy/ Maria this weekend?? Dying to know how she was."I saw the show on Friday night, for my sixth and (probably?) final time in San Francisco. I've never written a review here, but here are some thoughts. The show was Karli's Peggy/Maria debut, and I thought she was great. I'm in the minority here in that I very much enjoy Amber...especially as Maria, but I thought Karli was excellent. She has a very sweet voice, her "...and Peggy" deli...

Call_me_jorge said: "With all these seats opening up at lower prices than expected, do you think the Hamilton team overestimated how much people in San Fran would pay for the show?"I don't think that's what that means at all. The production usually holds most, if not all, of the tickets for opening night for the company's family, friends, invited guests, local celebrities etc. It's not that uncommon for them to later release tickets that have gone unused. As for the days other than opening nig...

Hamilton in San Francisco

Ryan Vasquez had a put-in for Burr yesterday, but he wasn't on for the actual show. I was there last night and Joshua Henry was Burr.

Do local theaters like SCFTA, Pantages, or San Diego CC have stage doors?

Jul 27, 2015 — 9:39:24 PM

The Pantages stage door is around the corner from the entrance. When you exit the theater, turn left and then left again at the corner (I think the street is Argyle?), the stage door is kind of in a little fenced off loading area but there should be barricades that make it pretty clear. The San Diego Civic Theater stage door is also around the corner, when you exit the theater turn right, there's a small alcove entrance to the backstage area and the cast will come through there. When in doubt...

Andy Mientus in Les Mis

Nov 12, 2014 — 8:52:24 PM

Andy is currently on leave to film a TV series. He'll be back next week, I believe...unfortunately. He's horribly boring.

Patty & Emily's Guide To Stagedoor Etiquette

I'm not repeating anything unsubstantiated here. But your veiled threats speak volumes about your character. My original post seemed quite on topic actually considering you were calling the original poster out on her hypocrisy. I was just calling you out on yours. Thanks for proving my point though!

Les Miserables

"Acceptable" to who? Some of the people on this board? Probably not. But obviously it's acceptable to the people who continue to cast him in things and the directors who work with him. If you mean is that a "common" thing, I think you'd be surprised by how many working Broadway actors can't actually read music.

Les Miserables

I have not seen the show yet, but based on the Good Morning America performance, I was disappointed in how Nikki sounded. Definitely the weak-link of the batch of soloists this morning, but I'll reserve any further judgment until I actually see the show. However, I have to disagree with anyone saying she looks too old. I was actually surprised by how young I thought she looked on GMA. I saw her in All Shook Up, pre-Broadway, almost 10 years ago and she doesn't look a day older than she did ba...

Ms. Yells a Lot Will Join Wicked 1st National Tour

Mar 13, 2014 — 2:09:24 PM

She'll blow her voice out in no time. The good news is that her standby, Emmy Raver-Lampman, is incredible. I have a feeling she'll be going on a lot. There's no way Emma can handle that role.

Lindsay Mendez leaving Wicked ?

Jan 2, 2014 — 1:08:31 AM

Alison has been on the tour for about 7 months now, and again the Elphaba and Glinda tour contracts seem to be about 9 months. So all that Emma joining the tour means is that Alison's contract is almost up. Although I would LOVE to see her move to Broadway.

Lindsay Mendez leaving Wicked ?

Jan 1, 2014 — 3:58:05 PM

She was, but she was obviously asked to extend and accepted. The typical Elphaba contract on Broadway seems to be about 9-12 months. The role is very physically taxing, and many women may choose not to extend even if offered, so that they can give their voice a break. Lindsay is extremely talented and could definitely have something else in the works if she isn't extending, or maybe she just wants a break, or maybe the producers want to bring in someone else. She's had a great run, it doesn't...

Lindsay Mendez leaving Wicked ?

Ensemble and principal contracts work differently. It's much more at the discretion of the ensemble actor whether or not they want to stay with the show, whereas it's much more up to the production whether or not they offer to extend a principal's contract. As a Wicked ensemble member once explained to me, barring any major objections from the production, his contract basically rolled over every 6 months or so unless he decided he wanted to leave.

Les Mis 2014 Casting?

For what it's worth, Laurence Connor recently started following Will and Caissie on Twitter.

Question about when a show opens?

Oct 3, 2013 — 4:50:48 PM

It doesn't so much matter when the show opens, but rather whether or not the show is still open once nominations are announced. It certainly helps if a show is fresh in the mind of the voting committee as opposed to a show that closed 4 months prior.
