I find the 1980 revival recording of "Oklahoma" far more enjoyable than the original.

Also please note that "Cabaret" had a revival in 1987 with Joel Grey (which was not the greatest production) then in 1998 we got it again. We all know what happened! Yes 10 years may seem too soon, but when a show has such an overhaul as "Cabaret" did and it seems that "Comany" has, I say bring it on.

From what I remember, when the show open in LA the new second act opener was put in. Soon after it was added to the NY production. I guess he (MB) liked it better.

Well, I work out to show tunes, "Passion" and "Pacific Overtures" are my current favorites. I work out 5-6 times a week. Try "All For The Best", is fun for cardo.

I cry everytime I listen to David's "Love Can't Happen", he was such a talented man, don't forget "Oh Brother!" in the flop list. He did a concert at the 92nd Y, a night I will never forget. He was very ill at the time and needed to sit for most of the concert. He also had some freinds help him through, Karen Akers and Barabra Cook to name two. He is greatly missed.

JOQ(jaded old queen)here, and I look forward twice a week to Mr. Riedel's writings. I am beyond the point in my life where I feel I need to support everything theater, espicially bad theater. Reading the posts here you would think that "Lennon" is the best ever, like "Brooklyn" was. Any press is good press, and it will save my $$$ on what will be the next flop on Broadway.

When I saw "Jerry Springer the Opera" about 2 years ago, Stephen Sondheim was two rows in front of me. He kept playing with his fingers. I also sat across the aisle from him at "A Little Night Music" in Washington. He was enjoying it. But to top that was this past December, when I went to see "The Producers" in London. I was sitting a few row away from Prince Charles and his soon to be new wife. Mr. Lane called out sick that night so I left and got my money back (an ordeal to say the least).

Now that Suzanne Somers is on Broadway, can we say "Mame", "Hello Dolly" and even "Applause". What the heck "Sweeny Todd", she can play the spoons.

Having seen this production, I totally agree with Mr. Riedel. There was no joy at all. The show belonged to Miss Jane (which is the best part in the show). Whenever she was on stage, your focus would always gravitate towards her (even next to McGregor). Most of the singing in the show was not up to Broadway standards. "Sit Down Your Rocking the Boat" was staged great, one of the best dance numbers I have ever seen, but the man who sang it was weak. I went to London to see this show, I am just...

I saw this production last month, it is very interesting and unlike any Sweeney I have seen (original,bway revival,NYCO and concert). Studio 54 would suit this production much better than the AA theater, it is small and for me a little too gimmickie. No fear of spraying blood. The actors play the music, so when Mrs. Lovett is not singing, she is playing the trumpet. The story in a story is much more played up here, you can seperate the actors for their characters.
