Opening weekend of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" in the West End, a ball fell in one of the opening scenes and Michael Ball had to run to retrieve it, to mild applause. He was very professional and matter-of-fact about it, I'm not sure many audience even noticed.

I love this thread! I've only cried twice in the theatre (from the show)... In Ragtime, when Tateh and the Little Girl reunite on the train, singing "Gliding"... It hit unexpectedly close to home too suddenly. Madbrian's daughter should take private voice training. She is not stuck in her voice, especially at 14, and you'd be surprised at what just a bit of power in her mix will do. It seemed like the composers took "If You Were Gay" as the springboard for the "gay and European" song (cut time, beat, feel). Also, the organ part (don't remember where) sounded like, oh, track 23 (?) in "Mamma Mia". It's been awhile, so I don't remember what I thought I heard from "Hairspray"...

I've only heard the cast recording. It does a good job of giving the title a deeper meaning and I like the more three dimensional character of Emmett. However, the music is extremely derivative (you can hear parts lifted from "Avenue Q", "Hairspray", "Mamma Mia", etc.). Still, it is enjoyable and I would love to see it sometime!

Nope, no recording... Just wing it. The music shouldn't be too difficult to figure out. I played rehearsal piano for it and it was fun. Make sure they play it straight. Playing it campy kills the pacing.
