It would also be hard to make Wicked a one-act show with "Defying Gravity" because such a large finale number. Not impossible to figure out, but pretty hard.

While the length of the show's might be cut down, the physical productions are usually expanded.
Wicked will eventually make its way to Vegas, in a "spectacular" production where Elphaba will undoubtedly sing the end of Defying Gravity while flying over the audience.

In that case the vocals will probably be pre-recorded as that is why she does not actually fly in a harness on Broadway, but I would have prefered it that way anyway. Some Broadway shows pre-record vocals. It's not uncommon.

The Lion King looks like it is going to be full length as oppose to cut down. And Mamma Mia wasn't cut down. Go back a few years ago when Chicago played the strip and realized that it wasn't cut down either. Yes, most Broadway shows that play Vegas are cut in run time. That is because the usual Vegas shows like Cirque and the Cirque type shows run at an hour and a half and they wanted the Broadway shows to run the same time.
The reason why I doubt Wicked will play the strip anytime soon is because Vegas producers want their production to be the only one playing in the west cost. That way if people want to see the show then they have no option to go to Vegas to see it. This was why when Spamalot went to Vegas it didn't play any west cost dates for a long time. Phantom is just getting to be able to tour the west cost after the opening in Vegas. Jersey Boys got all their west coast dates under their belt before the show opened in Vegas. I don't think that the Vegas production of a show being the only one on the west coast is a permanent thing. I just think that it is in place for a long period of time.
Keep in mind in Vegas as far as producers and resort owners are concerned. A show is just something to in between periods of gambling or spending money at the hotel doing activities. A show isn't what the night is all about. Whereas in NYC the entire night is about seeing a Broadway show.

That's not why. It's money. Always is. The casinos don't want people in the theatre for two hours. They want them out playing games and losing money.

Aside from the time limitations, Wicked is a female teen appeal show and that is not what Vegas is all about. Yes, there are adults that love it but it is mainly teens who are not allowed in the casinos. I think a lot will depend on how well Lion King does. Vegas is trying to get away from the "family" reputation.
Now if Elphaba and Glinda were topless -----
