As much as I hate Glee, they would have been smart to ask Matt Morrison and Lea Michele to host. It would have pulled in major ratings.
Just read the list and thought they might even have the cast on to perform a showtune. The theatre connection is there.
I thought that too, bjh. But, I'm still interested to see Sean Hayes host.
Great presenters. Now if only they can find a way to not give them long, rambling speeches that bring the show to a grinding halt. Nobody cares about the first time you saw a show, or your first time on stage, or your first backstage beej. Keep it simple, keep it funny and fast, and maybe I'd care.

"or your first backstage beej"
I don't know, depending on who's telling that one it could be a ratings draw.

It would have been a great idea for Glee to perform on the telecast, but I can tell you it ain't happening. FOX clearly has put an embargo on the cast of its hottest new show performing on rival networks' airwaves (aside from individual cast members on talk shows), as evidenced by their removal from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (broadcast by NBC, of course). It's not likely that they would allow them to sing on CBS.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it was Fox that pulled Glee out of the Thanksgiving Parade. If I remember correctly, NBC was the party that rejected the possibility of a Glee performance, and it had nothing to do with the fact that the show was on Fox. I'm not saying that I'm expecting the cast to perform at the Tonys, but I don't think the Thanksgiving Parade incident should always be called on as evidence to support the theory that they would never perform on other networks.
As for the list of presenters, I'm pretty satisfied. I wasn't thrilled with the announcement about Sean Hayes hosting, but now I'm looking forward to seeing people like Cate Blanchett, Justin Bartha, Matthew Morrison and Bernadette Peters at the awards as well.
