"Gretchen, stop trying to make 'fetch' happen. It's not going to happen."

Posted: 2/5/11 at 6:19pmwill, I was just going to post the link to that article. I would love to have been a fly on the wall for that exchange with Joan Rivers.

That's odd, because I read somewhere that Julie was saying that Joan loved the show! Nothing about the snarky comments.
Again, Julie is... staying positive... even though people are making fun of her to her face.

That's because she can spot a riedel when she sees one.

I am not a social media person. I rarely logon to facebook...
Wondering if the negativity was mostly restricted to BroadwayWorld.com, I decided to check out facebook and see what people were saying.
It seems that I am not alone in my enthusiasm for this show. There are hundreds of posts from hundreds of people all going on about how wonderful SMTOTD is. Interesting.
There really is a lot of riedel here.

Oh, that's where I read that Joan liked the show, SPDOT's blog:
"Joan Rivers burst backstage after watching the show on Wednesday night, full of energy and excitement. She grabbed director Julie Taymor and told her, “The show is brilliant! It’s going to run forever. Anyone who doesn’t like it is stupid!”
"We hear she is working some SPIDER-MAN material into her stand-up act, and she was spotted scribbling down a few notes during the show. "
Yea, Joan's making fun of your show.
They really can manage to overlook the obvious.

Three stops tonight in Act 1? Hasn't it been awhile since that happened?

Posted: 2/5/11 at 10:02pmThursday, when I saw it, there was one stop in act 2. It was short and somewhat jarring, but they recovered extremely well.

Of course they recovered well. Are you implying they're capable of doing things wrong?
Nonsense.

So....you went on Spiderman's FB and they are raving about it? Well, isnt' that shocking. People that don't like it aren't going to want to keep seeing Spidey on their feed and aren't going to be FANS of the page.
No one here has said there AREN'T people, like you, that thought it was great. It doesn't prove anything.

Have there been many instances of shows that have received a lot of negative posts on here by a large majority of members that have actually succeeded?
I only ask because since I joined I recall Cry Baby, Young Frankenstein, Women on the Verge all receiving a lot of posts similar to the ones that STOTD is getting and all three of those shows ended early (I know YF had an ok run but in comparison to The Producers it was not a big success).

Posted: 2/6/11 at 1:16amI have many friends in the NYC area, and many of them have seen it....not one single "positive" review from them.

Posted: 2/6/11 at 1:19amScott, thank you for your response. Again, I am glad you loved the show and am positive many others have and will in the future.

Sure there have been shows disliked by the majority here that when on to financial success. Spring Awakening, Mamma Mia & Wicked spring to mind.
I'll just say this to those that feel the need to "defend" anyone. I loved Spring Awakening. Saw it more times then I care to admit. MANY here hated it to levels I have seldom seen. I NEVER felt as if anyone bashed ME for my thoughts, but only that they disagreed with what I felt. It led to some fabulous discussions that were fun and interesting.
If this is a DISCUSSION board, I don't see the problem discussing differences. I would have left LONG ago if everyone just had the same opinion as me. THAT has no interest or purpose. A discussion must have opposing views or its just a mutual admiration society.
