HA! Fair. Maybe I should have said Ted Levine or George Wendt.
EITHER WAY, he is not a major name, but he was a bigger name than anyone else in that cast.

losing David might as well be the nail in the coffin on this show

Regarding Public Recognition, it depends on which "public" you are speaking of. David is know to those in the black community. Most in the black community would recognize him before they would Letts. And I am sure they are wanting the black community to attend this show.

Keith David is a national treasure who is known by ALL groups of people. It's amazing how you don't know who this person is and how much he's contributed to film, television and theater.
He is known by everyone. Period. It's really embarrassing for you that you are going to see "the cute guy" in Pose since he's been in virtually nothing else instead of recognizing the other incredible, talented men on the stage.
"David is known to those in the black community" is such a completely racist statement it literally took my breath away because it's so wrong.

Keith David is a big deal. Major and iconic film credits back to the early 80s, hundreds of television credits, and very significant voice over credits including major roles in the Halo and Mass Effect series. It sometimes boggles my mind how narrow a view some theater folks have of current popular culture.

Thanks, KJ. The narrow views are appalling and extremely embarrassing for those that possess them.

I'll be honest, I had to google him, and I'm decently well-versed in pop culture. I didn't recognize his name, but immediately knew his face. I'm guessing there is an age split in terms of recognition because his most notable roles were in the mid-80s and since then it's been a lot of character acting and voice-over work, with lead roles here and there on stuff that didn't really hit the mainstream.

At the risk of being called racist- I am not at all interested in another black history lesson. We have been inundated with shows, movies and television shows that have addressed black feelings and racism in the society. This show might be interesting to a black audience- but with 13 per cent of the USA population black- another show like this I do not think will succeed. August Wilson dramas- with starry casts- sell- and they are works of art. Unless this show is artistically challenging and has a message- I just do not think it will appeal to a wide variety of theatergoers. Also, I have no idea what Keith David looks like- have never seen him- to my knowledge in anything- and do not think he is a name that is widely recognized.

Yeah, "Racist" comes to mind. Perhaps you can find another white history lesson that will interest you.

No need to call you anything, it's clear by your views what you are and now it's documented. Thank you.

I also am not interested in seeing 20 shows about gay issues- or feminist issues- or Jewish issues. If you do not feel over-saturated with the media's over-emphasis on racial issues- that is fine. But, many people do.

You judge me by a few comments. And I meant all of them. And if those comments are so offensive to you- maybe you are too sensitive. I said nothing hateful or in any way disparaging of anyone. I simply stated my own preference and the feelings of many of my white, educated, liberal friends. Sorry these comments are so offensive to you.

Not offensive at all. Enjoy your KKK, er, men's rights protests later today. Straight, white, Christian males are TRULY the victims of America today.

And that is why there are many, may more plays, musicals, movies and tv shows that you can watch that you may be more interested in. Problem solved.

Your comment about me being Christian, straight, or in any way supportive of the KKK- or any hate group- shows how judgmental and narrow minded you are. If someone does not think exactly like you- they are labeled and isolated. Not good for America, for the future of a democracy that has already been severely tested by Trump and his followers.

for every show about said issues there are 10 or more "neutral", "happy", non-triggering to white people shows on stage and TV. You aren't forced to watch shows with majority black cast, there are always reruns of Friends for you.

Just because I feel over saturated with shows like this- does that make me racist? You people are a strange group. Very insulated and judgmental.

Nah, now you're just trolling. You are on the wrong planet, in the wrong country, on the wrong website and especially on the wrong thread. You were never going to see this show. Cool, got it. No one needs to hear that more than once or your racist reasons for not attending over and over again.
It's always interesting when someone clicks on a thread about a show they have no interest in seeing and states the reason they are not seeing it. No one asked. Nobody cares. Enjoy white people programming forever and eva. You're done here and hopefully everyone is done acknowledging you.
