DISNEY NEEDS TO RELEASE THIS TO DVD, DAMNIT! They have the money! They have the marketing power! C'MON DISNEY!
If they don't, the LEAST they can do is go ahead with a live-action movie musical (the story isn't right for animation, especially Disney's animation).
Anyway, I will shed a tear, and another, and another for AIDA tonight.
Ladies and gentlemen, today is a day of history. This is Disney's first Broadway show to close! How will Disney deal with this? Will they actually DO a DVD? Will they never again speak of this beloved musical? Oh WHAT is AIDA'S future???
The tour comes to my area in April, I think we are one of the last stops. Can't wait to see the show again. I saw Michelle T. Williams' understudy. So yeah...not good, having seen the OBC.
AIDA!
AIDA!
AIDA!
AIDA!
AIDA!
AIDA!
AIDA!!
IT'S NOT ENOUGH!!!!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

u all have to make sure u post ur closing reviews! im gonna miss this show. for the last 4 years ud always think Aida, Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera....now they're all going away ....cept Phantom
I saw the show yesterday for the last time and cried through the whole thing. I'll post my review tomorrow when I get home.
I feel so sad every time I walk past the theatre and remind myself that this is the last time I will ever see it the way it is now... ::runs away and cries::
I'm so upset that AIDA's closing! I passed the theatre yesterday and just stood there, touching the pictures that are outside. I was playing all the songs in my head, and I've been looking through my AIDA book all day. It's so sad!
I hope to god that Disney releases the DVD. I WANT TO SEE AIDA AGAIN!!!!! WAAAAAAA!!!!!!
It's at 3?? I thought they'd do a night show, too!! Then the person who was scalping tickets yesterday was wrong. They were like "Aida tomorrow night at 8..." Apparently no such show exists!!
Yeah Adam is singing Elaborate Lives right now...oh God this is sad. A lot of our BWW community is there now including LuvtheEmcee, Undiscovered, TheGirlinTheFrock, NativeNewYorker, Adampascalgirl, Bwaygirl, I think CRP, and a few more. Hope they're having a great time. I'm going back to my corner to cry!

"*sings* Dearly beloved we gather here to say our goodbyes. Here she lies! Many knew her worth. The late great daughter of mother earth. On this day when we celebrate the birth. In that little city of New York, we raise our glass. You bet your ass to: AIDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I have conflicting opinions about this show, but I AM very glad I saw it (especially with Heather Headley, who blew my socks off). I'll miss it too.

Wow, this show was very powerful. A few numbers lacked, and took away from the show ("Build Another Pyramid" and "Like Father Like Son."). I HATE the transition into "Like Father..." The tone is soft...down...then all of a sudden - BOOM!
But other than these two numbers, everything else was great. Heather Headley deserved her Tony. Sherie Renee Scott ROCKED MY SOCKS! "I Know The Truth" makes me cry EVERY time, the only other song that does that to me is "Distant Melody" from PETER PAN.

It's a shame. WHY did Disney flood it with pop stars?
