For anyone who is seeing it in Providence, or any stop on the tour in the near future:

Are they selling a tour souvenir program in the lobby? Does anyone know how to purchase one?

The show opened tonight in my city. Odd it opened on a Saturday night when most shows coming through open on Tuesday. Anyhow, Melissa M has been spotted all over town and has been quite gracious to fans who recognize her. I’ve always been a fan of hers.

There’s an audio of her Parade on YouTube. She has a great voice…it’s a little bit like a Judy Garland impersonator doing a Fanny Brice impersonation on top. Also seems she’s leaning fully into the Jewish New York dialect. Made me uncomfortable listening, but I suppose I’m happy for everyone looking forward to the performance. I personally cannot in good conscience watch her dance with bagels around her neck, but she is very talented, no denying. I’m hoping to catch the very talented Hannah Shankman in the role.

I saw a video of curtain call, and it looks like they finallllly got rid of the fake out before Fannys bow. Hallelujah!

Would you be able to send a link to the video?

Also got some info that the orchestra size remained the same from the Broadway revival at 14. That's on the larger side for a tour, and tied with Wicked and Les Mis for the largest on the road right now. Glad to hear they didn't opt to shrink it.

They did, thankfully. She sounds sensational along with the entire cast. It's extremely well sold throughout the Fall which is great for such an average show.

Sorry it was on someone's instagram stories so I can't. It's most likely gone by now.

If you look under the Providence Performing Arts Center geotag on instagram, there are a couple curtain call videos. The set looks very bare - no spiral staircases or cylinder that were central to the design on Broadway.

Wow! What a find. I think she was just as good as Lea, and I’m a Lea fan. Phenomenal, huge, old-fashioned sound (definitely heard some Judy in there) but also really strong acting. She played it bigger/more hyper than Lea or Beanie in act 1, but she brought the vulnerability in act 2 as well and the ending was a stunner. It might be the best performance I’ve ever seen in over a decade of tours at PPAC. 

The whole cast was quite good (the guy playing Nick especially) but it’s a star vehicle and McCrimmon really shined. The sets were fine, with a big painted backdrop for Henry Street and their mansion (better than video projections?) though I miss 3-D sets. Orchestra also sounded good though the overture seemed faster than I recalled? 
 

Oh and I didn’t see a program at concessions. They had signed copies of Harvey Firestein’s memoir and a vinyl of the soundtrack but no program that I saw.

When Lea joined the cast on Broadway I definitely noticed an increase in tempo with the orchestra. I wonder why they did that.

Wow! She sounds fantastic. She has a true legit 60s vocalist powerhouse voice and a delicious subtle vibrato. Even her book scenes have a Broadway Golden Age layering to them. She gives this tour a flavoring of the 1960’s FUNNY GIRL.

I didn’t get a chance to see it yet, but friends of mine did last night.  They said it was phenomenal - they got tix for tomorrow night, too. Not one criticism from the group - which is rare.  🤣
