I'm really surprised that this national tour is kicking off in Atlanta (A) the first week of August and (B) for only one week.
Wonder why they don't save this for the Fall, and book it in a big city like Atlanta for at least three weeks ? It's a long-awaited revival, and now has a solid reputation behind it. Could it be they chose to do August and only one week because they can't get a headliner who is noteworthy ?
The tour is actually launching in Providence in September 2023 and won’t be playing Atlanta until the following August. Maybe whoever they have or are considering for Fanny won’t be able to do the show after 9 months or so, thus the short run in Atlanta. Didn’t Betty Buckley only do 9 months of the Hello, Dolly tour before Carolee took over?

Tours rarely have names and this cast will never be able to compete with the current Broadway one, whomever they may be. I think you need a very strong cast to make this show any good.
It's interesting they are staying for only five days in most cities on this tour. I guess there's not heavy demand for this show in most places?
I don’t know the breakdown but I’d guess it’s a SETA tour, so if the show sells well the cast can make some money. Rumor was they had a former Elphaba lined up to play the lead. Not a name to most audiences but enough of a name for theater nerds to enjoy. And I’m glad they went with someone who can sing and act.
Not sure if this was talked about yet- but it looks like this tour is a non replica of the broadway production that just closed. According to Kevin Adams (@ambermylar on insta) who keeps sharing sneak peaks

The set was awful and trashed by the critics and audiences so not surprised but also good to know! Curious what direction it did go in.
The official Funny Girl Instagram account just posted a first listen of Katerina McCrimmon singing "Don't Rain On My Parade"... WOW. WHAT. A. VOICE. She sounds incredible.

She definitely has the pipes- but not crazy about her interpretation.
Maybe I'm still bitter about them casting a non-Jew as Fanny, but she has an air about her that I find very unlikable. But that's probably a me problem.
These promotional videos often are filmed to be deliberately out of context with the way the same song would be delivered in stage performance. I do find her vocals exciting, and she has an unconventional glamour to her that I think it is essential for success in the part.
“I knew who I was this morning, but I've changed a few times since then.”
WOWOW What a VOICE loving her vocal styling of the song. Who cares if she's NOT Jewish! You GO Katerina prove the haters wrong on how great a Fanny you will be! See ya at some point during the tour - super excited now!
