I flew from GA and saw Lea on Broadway, so I didn't want to or feel the need to see the tour version. But, after reading all the hate Katerina is getting on SM, it's convincing me to see the show in Atlanta. She's obviously got talent and the pipes. It's crazy to me that she's getting the blame for playing a character (based LOOSELY on a real life person) in a meh-musical. So, I guess I gotta go support Fox theater and this new cast.

If you send a self-addressed and prepaid shipping envelope addressed to FUNNY GIRL and the theatre address, they will mail you a couple. Just include a note stating you’d like a Playbill (or 2) and also send it to coincide while the tour is there. Even if the tour left a few days prior to them receiving your letter, they’ll still have Playbills laying around. I’ve done this ages ago when a tour didn’t come to my city but I wanted the touring production Playbill. I always was sent a couple of Playbills, a few times signed by the cast, which was unexpected as I’m sure the tours had ended by the time the theatre received my letter.
People are completely entitled to be upset at this casting. The listing (as confirmed by various people who apparently submitted for the role) called for Jewish identifying actors. Does she identify as Jewish? Why is this pushed aside? Why don't people care?

Casting choices can have cultural and representational implications. While it’s essential to move forward, it’s also crucial to acknowledge and learn from discussions about representation. Let’s continue to approach these conversations with empathy and respect.

That poster constantly tells people to "move on" on nearly every thread when they disagree with someone. So, the message to them is to move on. She is cast, the tour is starting, and this was already discussed. Feel free to discuss it to death on the original thread but this thread is about the tour. Period.

You seem to have confused me with the people on this website that were openly harassing and threatening Ms. McCrimmon on social media. There was zero respect or empathy for her. So, don't come for me because I'm not the fu*king one.
Is it me, or does McCrimmon sound like Barbra? Or, at least, more like Barbra than the four Broadway Fannys, based on what I've heard. That could either be a good or bad thing, but probably good. I think tour audiences will be expecting to hear someone who sounds like Barbra, and will be pleased with her voice.

I too thought she sounded like Barbra. And I got chills on her last note. I understand why some people are upset with this casting, but so far it looks like she's going to be great.

She sounded great, although I wonder if more people now are familiar with how Lea sings it, given the amount of exposure over the last decade and the new cast recording.

It's possible, though Lea's Glee-era performances were more Babs-inflected than her current take. I still think most people over 40 would probably be more familiar with Barbra's rendition from the movie.
