The whole point of Barnabas Collins was that he was a vampire who did not want to be a vampire. He was at times a violent creature and at times a tortured, romantic figure along the lines of a Maxim de Winter in "Rebecca."
Depp looks like someone in 1991 strung out on heroin en route to seeing The Cure.
Would a more virile-looking actor like Clive Owen be a better Barnabas?
Do you know what happens when you let Veal Prince Orloff sit in an oven too long?
Well, it can't be as bad as that remake of THE THIN MAN he's apparently working on. Or it might. We'll see. I'm not particularly enthusiastic, though.

Is Barnabas another one of those vampires that can go out in the sun? I don't remember that from the original. Though I was very wee at the time, you know.
Art has a double face, of expression and illusion.
Best -- Jonny Lee Miller was Sick Boy in TRAINSPOTTING, among other things. He does a wicked Sean Connery impression.

Jonny Lee Miller was Angelina Jolie's First Husband.

JohnBoy, how is this a surprise? About 75% of your posts are about how you've never heard of someone or something, usually implying that the person or thing is not important.
I saw Trainspotting in the theatre, but I don't remember him. I do remember Euan McGreggor, though.
Fun fact (for me only, probably): I went to see it with my partner on our very first date. Not exactly a great "date movie," but we stayed the course. That was 15 years ago! Wow, time flies.
EDIT: I do recognize him from those photos you posted, though.

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Why, look! It's Barnabas Wonka, the Scissorhands Barber of Wonderland Hollow!
EDIT: After this, I hope he just plays a Geisha girl and gets it over with. I think that's the only part left with a pure white face. On the other hand, he would probably play Tarzan that way.

IMO, this is not a very good sign.No trailers or early screenings or anything. VERY UNUSUAL for a Johnny Depp/Tim Burton movie. We should have seen a teaser trailer over the holidays.

Well, if this was a small budget film I would still be scratching my head as to why they are not publicizing this film more. The fact that it is one of Warner's big releases for the summer 2012 season really makes me wonder what is going on? I would not be at all surprised to see them push this back to Christmas 2012 or even early 2013. A film this size with this cast and director will have to have a advertising campaign and 9 weeks is simply not enough time. Even if the film is in trouble,Warner's would still advertise and promote the hell out of it and then cut their losses. I would push it back and buy some more time.

Well, at least we don't have to worry about any surprises. It's just Johnny Depp starring as A Tim Burton Film in A Tim Burton Film Starring Johnny Depp. It doesn't need trailers or advertising to sell tickets. They can save money by just running clips of all the other films.
