Anyone see him? Some of the buzz on Twitter has been saying that he was outstanding.
I wouldn't usually say this, but he should do something about that name.
I read somewhere (can't remember where), during his Spring Awakening broadway days that he was thinking about changing his name to Matt Decker or something like that.
Seeing him Sunday. Looking forward to it.
Matt Decker is a bit pornish.
Shingledecker sounds like a malady.
I would not be suprised if it took him 3 yrs to complete kindergarten...just learning to print that name!
I think he needs a signature stamp for the stage door.
Not surprised at all to see this. It's funny, I've always thought Matt sounds EXACTLY like Jeremy Jordan. Makes total sense that he'd be replacing him. Where's Jeremy going?
Jeremy is playing Clyde (opposite Laura Osnes as Bonnie) in Frank Wildhorn's "Bonnie and Clyde" in Florida somewhere.
Saw him this afternoon. He was pretty good. The first Tony to actually look like a teenager. Nice voice (a lot of vibrato). No optional "Maria" note. Acting was good, but tends to slightly overact during the dramatic moments.
Sarah Amengual was serviceable. Her voice is no where near as strong as Josefina's. Not even close. Her acting is bubbly and animated. I believe all of her act 2 costumes are new.
Desiree Davar was on for Anita. Does Cortez get Sundays off too, like Olivo? Has Davar been on often? I know some of you WSS fans will know. She was completely competent. It was strange at first seeing an Anita in this revival with short hair. She is a fabulous dancer. Singing weak at times, voice was on the verge of cracking on the high notes. Acting was fine, but no where near as passionate and emotional as Olivo.
Manuel Santos was on for Bernardo. He gave a fine performance.
Overall it was a fine performance. Ensemble is still energized and giving it their all. I was glad to see the strings have not switched over to synthesizers as rumored!

I enjoyed Shingledecker a great deal this afternoon. Nice voice. I find it interesting that I've enjoyed both of the Tony "alternates" (Shingledecker and Jeremy Jordan) much more than the regular Tonys (Cavenaugh and Hydzik).
I agree with ljay about Sarah Amengual...she was VERY animated, but her voice wasn't that strong. Makes you really appeciate Josefina Scaglione's performance.
I found Desiree Dovar to be completely competent, nothing less, nothing more. I enjoyed Cortez and Olivo, and felt Dovar was definitely a drop in quality. This was interesting, since based on her bio, it seems like she's played Anita fairly extensively.
