So, an acquaintance in Tampa was at a Chick-Fil-A in a mall today with her wife and daughter (who knows why?!) and an old woman walked up andtried to hand her a Jesus pamphlet. The chick said, "No thank you. I am gay.". Old woman looked floored and said, "But you have a child!" She smiled and said, "Yes and another on the way!". The old woman said, "What? How?!" and then slapped the chick on the arm. She screamed. Her wife jumped up. Security escorted the old woman from the mall and banned her and her group from the mall. People are losing their $hit!
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

Somewhere out there is someone we call a terrorist. He doesn't care whether you're straight and a bigot or gay.
actually, very many terrorists do care if you are gay. the taliban punishment for homosexuality is death. not by KCl infusion mind you: nothing less would do than to push a wall of stone onto you via tank. charming, huh?
AT this point, they can not care about their image. You won't convince me that Chick-Fil-A is worried about not being looked at as a company who donates to hateful organizations. Chick-Fil-A is doing what most companies try and avoid. The President of Chick-Fil-A brought this back from the dead and won't let it go. Not sure if he thought it would boost sales or what but it is a PR disaster. Other fast food chains are probably shaking their heads and learning from this. Personally, I prefer Boston Market over KFC.
How long will this go on? Seems like every day there is a new story. Chick-Fil-A appears to be embracing the attention, even if it is not making them look good.As long as they get the free press I guess they are happy.

In her remarks to reporters Friday, Quinn talked about the importance of sending a signal to companies that hold discriminatory beliefs. However, she acknowledged there might be little the city can actually do to stop Chick-fil-A unless the restaurant is violating antidiscrimination laws.
I am just glad that people are taking a stand and fighting Chick-fil-A on this. I just pray more and more people will stand up like Quinn and take a stance against this. I have read on a couple sites that Christians are being urged to support Chick-fil-A by eating there on August 1st. That's not supporting a "traditional family". It is supporting hatred and discrimination - something I thought Christians were against.

I think for extremely right-wing conservative Christians, eating Chick Fil A is two birds with one stone. Promotes their intolerant views against homosexuals and waves the middle finger at Michele Obama's healthy eating initiative by promoting good Christian families eating out together at an institution that shares their views on both LGBTQ people and right to eat fast food.
Bloomberg seemed to take a stance of defending Chick Fil A. He could have just said what Quinn did, acknowledging there is little that can be done legally while expressing disagreement with their statements. I guess Chick Fil A watch out if their peach shakes violate that soft drink portion rule has going.
First Baptist Church has a congregation of about 10,000. On Sunday, KDFW-TV reported, Pastor Robert Jeffress asked them to join in “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” on Wednesday.
Chick-fil-a President Dan Cathy ignited a controversy in mid-July when he told the Baptist Press that the company was “guilty as charged” when it comes to supporting “the biblical definition of the family unit.” The company has donated millions of dollars to organizations that oppose the legalization of gay marriage.
@SarahPalinUSA: Stopped by Chick-fil-A in The Woodlands to support a great business.
I grew up near The Woodlands and remember the gay bashing from a group of Woodlands high school students that led to the death of Paul Broussard. How fitting for the Palins to show their support of bigotry at that particular location.
I really did love the food at Chik-Fil-A, but I haven't eaten at one in at least 12 years, so apparently, I don't miss it that much. I do find it rather humorous that the political debate on gay marriage now has a national conversation focusing on a fast food chain. How very...American. The funny thing is, there is nothing about this news that is new or surprising. The fact that it's getting this much exposure seems to verify that the tide has shifted in favor of equal rights. Otherwise, this would have been a non-story slipping under the radar.
Add the announcement of the inclusion of gay marriage equality to the Democratic platform and fast food chains could really profit with some advertising campaigns featuring gay couples. JC Penney and Target have really been stepping up. Last year saw some major H&M gay advertising campaigns during the holidays. Old Navy is still selling Gay Pride apparel at my nearby location.
From Joe's article:
"I'm saying if the government can stop a business from expanding because it doesn't agree with its views, there's nothing to keep government from prohibiting the expansion of churches because government doesn't agree with the church's position," Jeffress told KDFW.
Though I agree that modern mega-churches do resemble greedy and corrupt national chain corporations, technically, they're not. Which may have something to do with the government allowing even the most hateful and bigoted churches like Westboro to continue to operate.

As do I, Matt. What's said is the lead killer in the Broussard case, via lengthy prison counseling with one of Houston's leading gay activists, is now more evolved on gay rights than the Palins are.
This might have already been posted earlier in this thread, so forgive me if it's a rerun, but here's an interesting article comparing Chick-Fil-A's approach with Marriott, which up until recently had a CEO who was personally opposed to gay marriage but went out of his way to keep that out of the company's business strategy. Followed by the usual drek in the comment section, of course. Article
I'm posting this because a friend of mine has had right wing relatives gloat and send him this all day. Even though it has been debunked,Tea Baggers and Free Republic posters and all the other hateful crazy Conservative sites are ignoring the facts and pretending that McDonald's supports Chick-Fil-A.
As we have seen here on BWW, they do like their own version of facts and history don't they?

SO, have they hired a Public Relations Director yet? The Bad press and horror stories are pouring in, so if they haven't they might want to make that their #1 Priority real soon.

I hope they don't. Let them keep digging their own grave.
