What an amazing production, and what a killer run for a play on Broadway these days.

I wonder if any of the cast will join the tour.

Sorry to see it go.

Had a great run though, closing at 800 performances.

I feel terrible that it's closing, but at the same time can't help but feel delight for the amazing run this show had! It's a shame though that not even an amazing straight play on Broadway can't really run past a few years.

new plays rarely run longer than a year. This almost made 2 years. Congrats on a solid run & an equaly successful tour run!!

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Great show. i hope to catch it on tour

It's interesting that audiences on the West End support plays more than on Broadway.  Two of the longest running shows in the world are plays and can only be seen on the West End.

Not to be confused with Dave19.

For a straight play that was not star casted, it had a very nice run. I loved that show. Could the production of The Master Builder be going into the Barrymore?

Sad but happy that it had such a terrific run. It was one of my favorite Broadway shows in years.

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

What an amazing ride this show had! I was debating whether or not to see the production again on my trip this weekend, and now I probably will!

Loved this show! Saw it twice, once with Alex and once with Taylor. Awesome cast!

Sad to see this, but glad I saw it and will be seeing it again this Thursday (via TDF) with some friends of my family coming into town.  A great run for a great show!  Has anyone who has seen this through TDF recently comment on where the seats are usually?

Definitely a great show. I think I'm gonna try to go again before it closes.

The article on Broadway World said it was the longest running play in 10 years.  What was the last record holder, I wonder?

I think it ran longer than most gay plays, too, no?

How long was the run of war horse?

War Horse started previews on March 15, 2011, opened on April 14, and closed on January 6 of 2013.  It had a total of 718 performances.

That's not really anything new for a non musical especially one that's not a comedy though. Ten years back Proofcran just over 900. Then I think you have to maybe go back to Brighton Beach Memoirs or Torch Song Trilogy to find a longer run. Remember even Streetcar ran "just" 850 performances or so.

Not sure that's true. They may arguably have a healthier non musical scene but the plays are still often relatively short runs. The Mousetrap and Woman in Black are anomalies and phenomenon a largely now appealing as tourist institutions.

It's worth pointing out that many short-lived new plays live on regionally, or in community theatres. That's really where a lot of plays find long-lasting success.

I doubt Curious Incident will find much life regionally due to its production demands.
