I so vividly remember an episode of Picket Fences that concluded with a Halloween costume party with Fyvush Finkel dressed as Dracula standing at a microphone singing I Left My Heart in San Francisco.
Nicely put. So glad that this gentle man and his vast and varied career are being remembered and celebrated. I attended a performance of Mandy Patinkin's "Mamaloschen" concert and observed Mr. Finkel entering the orchestra section to take his seat. Numerous people walked over to him to say hello and express their admiration, and he was friendly in return. How happy he looked throughout. May he rest in peace.
If he had been 20 years younger when "Something Rotten" opened, I'll bet he would have been cast as Shylock (who is a nice guy in that show). He'd have been perfect!
