Can we dream cast now?  It would be amazing if the principles from the movie came back.  They can all sign... Meryl, Emily, Anne, Stanley...    Super stoked for this musical and its possibilities. :)

Wow! I like some of Paul Rudnick's work, not all but some and I love Elton John. I hope they come up with something great.

I would love to see someone along the lines of Christine Ebersole, Marin Mazzie (if she's up to it) or Patti LuPone as "Miranda Priestley" and Laura Osnes as "Andy Sachs".

Excited for this, but would have much preferred a Pasek and Paul Devil Wears Prada...

Sierra Boggess is way too up in age to play "Andy"...

If they color blind cast this I would suggest they look at Audra McDonald, Tonya Pinkins or Sheryl Lee Ralph for "Miranda Priestley."

She's only three years older than Osnes. Early 30s can play early 20s on the stage easily.

As much as I dislike movie-to-stage musical adaptations, it seems like a great pairing of source material and composer! I hope Elton really works hard on this one and doesn't phone it in (like his last studio album).

I don't think Elton John is the right choice for this material. Nevertheless, I'm very excited.

Just watch Ugly Betty if you want to see Williams play the exact same role

Agreed. I'm definitely disappointed he's writing the score, but here's to hoping it will be great!

Carmen Cusack was MADE for Miranda!

People on this board really want Osnes cast in everything huh.

I imagine this is going to be a lot more like the movie than the book. It's not that I was incredibly attached to the book and it's far from great literature. It's just that the movie so cliched and palatable. I don't know where you find any depth there. The part with Miranda's marriage and job that they added for the movie does not count for me.

Best idea so far.  Would like to see Emma Stone as Andi.

This seems like the kind of project David Yazbek would jump on, but it seems like he's veering away from popular fare to more indie films to adapt (from Full Monty and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels to Women on the Verge and The Band's Visit).

It'll be interesting to see how they "handle" the Miranda music. I don't necessarily think this character would be one to sing.

Will never happen, but My Strongest Suit from Aida could probably be dropped right into this.

YEAH. I don't get it. She's BORING and beige and conservativeGreat for old-school Disney princess roles but not much beyond that. Maybe I'll be proven wrong with Bandstand?

I would rather see Sierra Boggess play "Emily Charlton".

I like to think  "out-of-the-box".

What's really beige and boring is to cast an actor in the same type of role over and over and over.

Just because they've had successes playing one type of role does not mean they can't venture out and play against type.

It's been done before.
