In yet another fascinating edition of George Feltenstein's Warner Bros/MGM podcasts that discuss their BD/DVD releases, on 7/6/18 they posted a new interview with Ruta Lee, one of the 7 Brides. This one is totally fun and, as they all do in these interview pods, so rich in film history, production stories and personal memories. I didn't know that 7 Brides was filmed in both Cinemascope and Widescreen in 2 versions (like Oklahoma or Carousel). Both different versions are in the new BluRay set. Sometimes you can get lost in these podcasts; you hear such life affirming stories and memories from such a wide variety of stars from the 40's - 50's Dream Factory musicals. Janis Paige, Julie Newmar, with stories of Fosse, Michael Kidd, Debbie Reynolds, Astaire, Audrey Hepburn, Doris Day, they are all there. So many came from Broadway, (Guys & Dolls, Li'l Abner, Pajama Game, and many more and their film adaptations) Every film student and film buff will enjoy these stars and their stories.
Here's a link; I'm sure you can access the whole library there or where podcasts go to live forever
(And now I see Ryan Murphy new FEUD is Fosse & Verdon ) ?? Did they have a feud? I thought they loved each other to death? Let's hope he doesn't muck this up...

The FX "Fosse/Verdon" limited series is not part of Ryan Murphy's "FEUD" anthology. It's produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Thomas Kail and Steven Levenson. Nicole Fosse is the executive producer.
Sure they loved each other but their union was anything but seamless - or even traditional by any stretch of the imagination.
Hey Art! I am much too young (thank you) but with podcasts and wiki this and wiki that info, sometime my brain goes into overdrive and I have to keep listening or reading... but Ruta does seems like a true Hollywood dream girl legend, her bio and stage work remained strong. Dancing for Michael Kidd for your first job...she is/was a trained ballet dancer. She's 96 and did that podcast...she is still hot stuff!
And the 7 Brides Blu Rays are and look incredible!!!!!
I’ve been meaning to pick up the 7 Brides blu ray. It looks gorgeous based on the screenshots I’ve seen. Warner Archives has done an amazing job with their blu ray transfers.
